Hasbro Toy Fair 2015 NYC Jurassic World Images - The Toyark - News |
The big T-Rex looks like it could be a pretty good toy, so it might be worth getting. Most of the Basic figures look pretty good too. Though it kinda sucks that it sounds like the ones that were in the leaked image will be al we get in that assortment.
Also kinda sucks that the Growlers assortment (which isn't part of this for some reason) and the Lego sets seem to be the only two options to get all four Raptors at the same size. Though since the big 12" long Raptors are only ten bucks, I might get those, and just get a fourth one to paint as Blue. Not going to hope for anything, but I really wish that at least one of the human figures they are doing is an actual character from the movie. Preferably Owen, but Vic wouldn't be bad either. Edit: The Tracker assortment sounds interesting. It's nice to see at least one Stegosaurus toy in this line. I'll most likely get that. The animatronic baby dinosaurs also sound kinda interesting. The T-Rex might be interesting. Edit2: Well, rereading the Tracker asst. info, I have lost all excitement for that. Did not realize the first time through that the assortment was a part of the Playskool stuff. Oh well, still have the big T-Rex, the Raptors, the Ceratosaurus, and the Basic figures to look forward to. |
Will the Stegosaurus really have a... Biceratops... head?
Can't even call it a Triceratops head since it doesn't have a horn on its nose. Weird. |
This is just awful. The 2 1/2" figures for Guardians were bad, but at least there were also some nice collector 6" figures. But what we need isn't Jurassic Park Legends of the human characters, we need a set scale for the basic figures, and then dinosaurs and vehicles scaled correctly to create playability. Instead, it seems like there are about five different sizes of electronic dinosaurs, with raptors and T- Rexes etc, all the same size.
Jurassic Park isn't just about human characters, or even just about dinosaurs. It's about the struggle between the two. That's why properly scaled humans and dinosaurs, with vehicles and accessories were the key to success with the first two movie lines. That's what makes them playable for kids and enticing for collectors. The human figures are awful and do not represent actual characters. They are way out of scale with the dinosaurs, which are also way out of scale with each other. |
When I was small, I had a set of plastic dinosaurs that were quite realistic. Loved them. Wouldn't have given these the time of day. I wonder if they have to make them cartoony nowadays to satisfy consumer advocacy groups.

I wonder what the non photo shopped versions look like, and why do they all need 'battle damage' in exactly the same place?

i don't understand why hasbro can't produce dinosaur figures that look similar to the Papo dinosaurs.. i mean, those figures look fantastic.
i'd rather have a really great looking dinosaur in a static pose with a movable jaw or a very well articulated dinosaur that looks good but not great... these on the other hand just look bad. they're a bit ugly and very under articulated which is a shame. i'd LOVE to see a 4" (human scaled) set of dinosaurs from revoltech. that would kick so much ass it'd be unreal. but, as it stands now.. i think the original large t-rex looks better than this garbage.. look at that head.. it's horrendous, what were they thinking? |

I would have preferred a reissue of the original Park toys...
They still have the molds, right? I also secretly hoped that the vehicles would have been repaint of Joes vehicles, as they did with Indiana Jones. |
I don't get it. They have a large scale TREX and reveal images of the IREX but no large toy for IREX? On the plus side the IREX looks a lot better than I anticipated.

I said before, 2.5'' is what they are betting on. After Guardians of Galaxy and Avengers this is the 3rd line. This way its easier to sell a vehicle and figures. In this case they can sell a dino, vehicle and figure for a cheaper price tag. In 4'' scale this would go for $40 or even $50. I bet next Joe movie line will also take this approach. We will see more vehicles at least.

Toyark? For pictures of the T-Rex 015 and 016, what line is that Rex from? I need that one!

... what happened to the claws on the raptor foot?.. where did they go?

Just saw the movie this weekend with the kids. Now that we have a frame of reference we're even more disappointed in the toys. I agree that scale is a major issue. From a collector's point of view, I would really have liked to have seen a properly scaled 3 3/4-inch line, with screen accurate humans, dinos, vehicles and playsets just like many of you have said in other posts. My son totally rejects the 2 1/2-inch toys (or anything that looks like it's supposed to go with 2 1/2-inch scale figures), so I couldn't even get him interested in getting anything from the new movie line. I had really high hopes that they would go more toward the GI Joe 25th Anniversary style like they did with the two JP sets that came out a couple of years ago. So for now we're circling back to the older JP III toys for our Jurassic Park fix.
