Mystery Soldier Toy ?

toy came in pack of white and black soldiers. I also had a tank that would unfold into a base when you pushed a button on it. The tank treads would detach into a battle vehicle where you could place a soldier or two. I had the toys in the early 90s but they could have been made late 80s. If you know what they are called please post.

First thing that came to mind is Mattel's GUTS Laser Fighters, but your guy is way too small.

The vehicle sounds vaguely like Megaforce, but Megaforce didn't have figures. I know I'm not really helping here, just kinda rattling things off... Is it possible this was part of a Micro Machines line?
