Would you want MOTU 3.75?

Would Master of the Universe figures in 3.75 inch scale interest you?

I'm a relatively new collector who likes to keep everything in the same scale. I'd like to be able to collect MOTU but I'd spend so much money just trying to get the old figures/exclusives.

I think MOTU in 3.75 would be interesting because Mattel could easily give us bigger and better playsets, mounts etc.

While I love the MOTUC figures I would really like to see what they can do with a 3.75" line. The original and 2000 Castle Greyskull playsets actually work really really well with 3.75" figures. My only concern is how Mattel would handle the sculpts and articulation. I have no love for any of their 3 3/4 figures and I'm not sure how much better a MOTU line in this scale would be.

So, I guess it's: if Mattel follows what they have already done with 3 3/4 figures than NO. If they follow what Hasbro is doing than YES.

Well said.

brianregan09 06-20-2010 12:25 PM

Yeah i'd love to see it in 3.75 because i used collect MOTU years ago but i wouldn't really get into it again because i'd be years behind...But yeah they'd have to like the MU's articulation because the DC stuff is terrible the infinite heros anyway

prowl26 06-20-2010 01:28 PM

Yes definitely. I would totally have gotten into Mattel's DC Infinite Hero if it was as good as the Joe's have been for awhile and Marvel Universe is getting. I would likely say the same for MOTU or plenty of other toy lines. I think Hasbro's offerings are just too good while Mattel's fall far short.

The new Batman is definitely stepping things up though.

Tarquinius 06-20-2010 05:19 PM

Hmm so the response so far is positive, so my next question is....is it possible?

I never liked Mattel's customer department and they seem to be more into 6 inch figures then the smaller scale

appa 06-20-2010 06:08 PM

I suggest give the MOTU 3.75 scale to hasbro, they did very well with these figs. lol:D

If they're gonna make it the same scale and sculpts as DC infinite heroes.. uhm.. hasbro it is:D

Johnnyakiba 06-20-2010 06:11 PM

I voted no.

and not because I am not a fan (Which I am currently not)

It's because there would be just one more thing that I would want to add to my colelction which would me yet another thing to drain my bank account.

Hahahaha but in a perfect world with all the money you could ever possibly have.....maybe then?

Galaxy Ranger 06-20-2010 07:43 PM

If Hasbro yes, Mattel ala Infinite Heroes no. But that being said I will take anything new in 3 3/4 for custom parts lol!!

Absolutely. And He-Man would be right next to my Cheetara and fighting against my Shredder and Space Ghost.

In a world with money anything could be made into 3 3/4 scale.

Hehe that would never happen because Mattel owns MOTU much like Hasbro owns G.I. Joe.

I wish they did make MOTU 3.75 inch figures. Those would be cool well could be cool if Mattel isn't lazy & ruin them.

MegaPrime33 06-21-2010 05:13 AM

I'm not surprised a lot of people would be down for this. I personally am not a fan at all of this scale. It works for certain things, like Star Wars and GI Joe, but that's because that's the size they've always been. The current size for MOTUC, imo, is perfect. Putting them in this small scale just wouldn't work.

i agree 100% with this statement

trebleshot 06-21-2010 09:51 AM

I would like to see what would happen if Mattel did go to that scale, since it does open up a lot of possibilities with playsets, mounts and vehicles. But as others have said, I would be extremely leery if they went with DCIH-style molds/sculpting. I would be a lot more interested if they followed with Hasbro's lead.

Besides, imagine the challenge to the 4H in working with that scale.

Having said that, I think the scale and business model that Mattel currently uses for MOTUC fits the property like a glove. I just don't see them ever bothering with a 3.75" version.

uberlad 06-21-2010 11:16 AM

I'm one of those people that would like to see EVERYTHING move to the 4 inch scale. That way, they can fit in with my Joe, Star Wars, Marvel Universe, Infinite Heroes, WWE B'n'B, Narnia, Avatar, Terminator, Cinema of Fear, Army of Darkness, A-Team, Indiana Jones and Star Trek figures.

Well, Star Trek playsets at least.

uberlad 06-21-2010 11:21 AM

For the record, I would also want 4 inch Ghostbusters, Voltron, Dukes of Hazard, Lone Ranger, Universal Monsters, Thundercats lines to name a few more.

Don't even get me started on what properties I would want in this scale.

ericdbright 06-21-2010 07:47 PM

I don't understand why people want all of their toys in the same scale. They're different toys from different lines. Who cares? It obviously doesn't bother people that Transformers are in a different scale or that vehicles for the 3 3/4" lines aren't even in the same scale as the figures. MOTU is a different universe, so the plausability of your "fantasy crossover" doesn't even make sense. Let it go, please don't touch my favorite toy line. I like it just the way it is.

It's just the way I collect man and the idea of a "fantasy crossover" can happen if I choose to.

Besides I in no way hinted that I wanted the 6 inch line to be scrapped. I think it's an awesome line but I think there is also a distinct advantage to shrinking the size. Playsets become better in scale, as do mounts. Army building is a bit easier (just because it's cheaper).

LUCKYDUBE 06-22-2010 02:53 AM

If Hasbro did it Yes, If Mattle did it NO way.

That's what they said with the MU line..

Theres a lot of posibility with their contracts having an expiration, it's not forever they'll be holding the franchise:D Toybiz once holding Marvel and Hasbro once handled and released some DC products.

Except that Mattell actually created MOTU. It's not like it was a property that already existed and then they just got the license to create figures for it. They literally created the concept and characters, so they will always own the rights, unless they sell it off (which I highly doubt will happen). The same is true for Hasbro and GI Joe, Transformers.

Exactly.

MOTU would only ever come out in 3.75"-scale if Mattel chooses to do so. Hasbro is only being used in this discussion as an example of how good 3.75"-scale lines could be, versus Mattel's own attempt at a DC 3.75" line (DCIH). I think most of us agree that Hasbro does that scale better than Mattel.

I don't understand why people can't live with another scale!
Star Wars & G.I. Joe has many different scales of the same toy line!
It would work the same for MOTU. They aren't changing it entirely! :p
Right now they aren't even thinking of vehicles for MOTU because of the size. If they had a smaller scale MOTU they could do vehicles much more easily.
