Walgreens Black Ant Repaint/Classic Hank Pym Ant-Man
 

I started collecting Marvel Legends late in the game and the old Toy Biz Hank Pym Ant-Man has always been pricey on the secondary market. Now he's in the triple digits with the movie out and interest at an all-time high. Boo to Hasbro for not giving us a new Classic Ant-Man or at least reissuing the old one. When I saw the Walgreens Exclusive Eric O'Grady Black Ant figure in Toyark's SDCC coverage I immediately knew I was going to customize it into the Hank Pym version. I sculpted the bootcuffs on his calfs but aside from that, I just repainted him with acrylic paints. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to get him back together if I took him apart the knees, elbows, wrist and ankles. So, that's why I just left them alone. I'm sure a better customizer than me could pull it off, but I've never had luck putting joints back together after sanding them down and painting them. I always just ruin the paint and it gums up the joint. The wrists and ankles are unfortunate, but the knees and elbows don't bother me a bit. Even though it's not 100% accurate, I think they actually look pretty cool and help break up the mostly red costume a little. I'm pretty happy with the way he turned out. Thanks for looking!

BTW, did Hasbro ever make a Hank Pym Ant-Man figure in their 3 3/4 inch line? I saw a post with the 3 3/4 movie Ant-Man and a ML 6 inch figure together and it looked so cool I'd like to try to do the same with this figure. Thanks again!

Yes, they made an Ant Man for the Marvel Infinite last year.
As well as Wasp and Yellowjacket.

I thought I'd give this a bump since Hasbro is copying my idea from 3 years ago. 😁 I neglected to paint the joints on mine, but aside from that the upcoming Retro Ant-man looks almost identical. I'm surprised they didn't give the New one straight antennas for the helmet. Thanks.
