Can't wait to pick up this Leatherface. These Ultimate versions have been killer. Jason can't arrive soon enough.

I had attempted to recreate Jason Edmiston's awesome LEatherface art (used for the NECA retro figure) in photo form as well.

That's awesome Joe, great shots. what kind of camera are you using?

Joe Moore 08-24-2015 06:12 AM

Thanks man. I appreciate it.

I'm using a Sony A5000 right now. It's a mirrorless sensor with interchangeable lenses.

Pardon the sort of newb question, but I'm not familiar with the licensing situations for the different horror properties like I am the Marvel licenses. Does anyone know if NECA has the rights to eventually make an Ultimate Michael Myers figure? I would throw down hard cash for the guy who gave me the most nightmares as a kid... lol.

They've been trying to get the license, but Randy has said that they've had no luck in negotiations. They were basically told no. They wanted to do both Ultimate and Mego style. But it's not happening any time soon.

Man, that's a serious bummer... =( guess I'll have to resort to making a custom then.

Didn't NECA already have the rights, or did they revert back to the owners somehow? I remember NECA putting out several versions of Myers from both the original and remake series of films under their "Reel Toys" line.

If you are willing to settle, the versions that I mentioned are all pretty decent figures of Myers. Sadly, the articulation isn't all that great, but the molds are terrific (depending on how you feel about Rob Zombie's version) and hold up pretty well to this day (my favorite is the two pack that comes with his niece.) The original Movie Maniac figures from Mcfarlane also hold up fairly well. Myers has always been the slowest and most deliberate of the classic slasher characters, so his lack of articulation is usually a sin forgiven in the fact that there aren't too many crazy poses you'll need to put him in.

Now those crazy secondary market prices, that is a different sin altogether.

The license expired and NECA has yet to negotiate a renewal. I'm pretty sure most of their licenses have expiration dates but if it sells well enough (Predators, Aliens, Freddy) they get to renew and make more.

Yeah, Trivial, those secondary market prices are why I was hopeful a new release was in the works. They are STEEP.

Randy was actually just talking about Michael Myers on Twitter. Repeated what they said before. Can't come to an agreement with license holder, not looking likely any time soon.
