I enjoyed it! A little strange, but I am curious as to where it will go.

Nope. I have no interest in fake X-Men shows.

What makes it "fake"?

EvilMonkeyPope 02-12-2017 12:33 AM

Legion's hair is wrong.

Well I'm tired of these properties that are supposed to be set in the X-Men world that don't have characters wearing costumes. Secondly, Legion is supposed to be the son of Prof X and have long spiked up hair. The Legion in this TV show is neither and it doesn't featured costumed heroes.

Why should I settle for any less now when shows like Flash and DareDevil understand what the comics are supposed to be?

We (me and my lovely counterpart) really liked it.
We thought it was smart and well thought out.
Some very beautiful visuals and it left us wanting more!

I think the story of Legion leaves a LOT of room for non costumed adventures since Legion is almost always portrayed without a costume.
I've always considered David's hair as being an artistic expression consistent with the specific Sienkiewicz style that translated very poorly to other artists.
His story is a very wrought disturbing one that doesn't need the usual costume treatment (although there are plenty of Fox and other examples where costumes where lacking or missing entirely!) and I believe they actually finally did it right this time.
They focussed on it's inherent strength of story instead of superficial "Yay Superhero Dollars".

i agree with you to a certain extent. There was no costume on this guy, then again he doesn't have a regular costume./ they could have at least pulled off the Crazy hair though, unless come down the line in this season, maybe they might. i happen to give it a watch last night, it was ok...very trippy kind of weird really. i don't know if i see this show lasting that long. this might end up becoming like the the old X shows back in the day. very short lived never to be spoken about again.

let's not also forget no one besides people who KNOW about comics will actually know who this guy is... im sure to most people they have no idea who the hell he is, however because they've saw, heard,or read that this show is from Marvel and about mutants it might have sparked some peoples interest.

It doesn't help that the show is actually NOT a part of the FOX X-Men cinematic universe either (the producers of the show have said as much since it was announced,) and it is it's own seperate entity.

The trailers weren't very appealing either (they were quite boring and a bit too eccentric for my tastes) and show existing shows how little FOX cares about the X properties at this point. The lead producer of the show Lauren Shuler Donner, was actually quoted as saying in a recent interview about the show and it's direction as "OK, we’re going to throw it out there and hope the fans accept it.”

Harbinger 02-12-2017 09:54 AM

Legion without his eraserhead hairdo is like an oktoberfest without beer......it just ain't right. ;)

I didn't say I needed Legion to wear a costume, but I'm bored of these plain clothed comic characters. When I see X-Men on screen I want to see them in variou colored costumes and wearing masks. I do not want to see Wolverine wearing his plain clothes. I want him wearing his brown and yellow costume with his mask on. I want to see Cyclopes wearing blue and yellow. I want Jean in green and gold/yellow. I want to see Archangel be blue with a blue and purple costume, I want to see storm in a black costume with gold jewels, etc.

I think it took a lot of liberties with names and his lack of autism and such, but there were a ton of vague Legion callbacks to his original introduction in the New Mutants book from the 80s. The show is exactly what I expected it to be, I bet it will have unravelled itself by the end of the series. As for David, I think Dan Stevens is not only super handsome, but pretty spot on how I read Legion in the Legacy book.

Yeah the Whole ending where they rescued him was kinda Cool. I am going to Watch it out to see overall if I like it or not cuz right now I'm not sure so aspects were awesome some were just strange. I'm going to give it time. The Main Actor was pretty good.

To be honest, i didn't even know who this was supposed to about. Until i did a tad of research. I've always been an avid follower of Spider-man, wolverine, hulk. So i kind of stayed away from X-men other then the 90s jim lee era cartoon. However numerous times i've seen those new mutants covers with him (legion) on them.

Like i said tgis will only appeal to some. To some X fans, to some Marvel fans, but not everyone knows about this character.

THIS!! 100% agreed! Marvel Studios proved having costumes on their characters will work. Not everyone needs to be fighting in black leather or jeans and a t shirt. I want to see Cyclops in different versions of his costume. I want to see Wolverine in a proper Wolverine costume. We've now seen him in what 9 movies? and his most constant look is a white tank top and jeans. When the MCU, DC Arrowverse and even the DC Murder Verse can all use actual costumes and make them work, there's no reason why 9 movies in, and we still don't have a proper Wolverine costume on screen.

At this point, those would be better than nothing. The problem is those were only in the movie for 3 whole seconds before it ended.

Wait for the others to pop on here saying "Oh well the costume won't translate well onto the big screen"

Yeah i agree with that man. I just hope that Marvel Studios some how gets the Rights to make a MCU Xmen movie with proper everything but I don't think that will happen

Here's the wiki regarding Legion and I forgot but I read somewhere why they weren't going to do his hair all crazy like. It does look like though it'll have the X-Men movie elements in it.
