Yeah not sure about why they did it this way...


These ladies clearly ain’t afraid of no ghosts. Sony’s first official promotional shot for Ghostbusters (in theaters July 15) shows stars Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig, and Leslie Jones striking a confident pose, proton packs at the ready. Check it out above.

The new ghost-busting team appears to be standing in the lobby of a hotel, bringing to mind the scene from the original 1984 comedy when Bill Murray and company captured beverage-guzzling ghost Slimer in the ballroom of the fictional Sedgewick Hotel. Judging from the fog and ectoplasm-green light in the new pic, something supernatural is definitely lurking.

The photo was released this morning on Twitter via the fan account Planet Ghostbusters. Director Paul Feig also used Twitter to release a previous image of his stars on set (below), posing in front of the new incarnation of the classic Ghostbusters car, the Ecto-1.


Though his film isn’t out until next summer, Feig is already having a very Venkman Christmas, tweeting the photo below of himself in a Ghostbusters logo sweater with the caption “Trap the ghosts with streams of protons, fa la la la la la la la la!”

I don't get why this movie is receiving such hate from the get-go. Why not just wait & give it a chance?
The trailer looks like fun to me, not worse than the 2nd GB movie was.

"THESE BROADS ARE RUINING MY CHILDHOOD WAAAH" seems to be the most common answer.

With all the soulless retreads, remakes, reboots that have been charmlessly farted out over the last decade, at least this one is doing something different.

Ghostbusters wasn't some huge part of my childhood so there's nothing there to ruin. I just think it looks bad.

The actresses they chose are all funny on their own to their credit. Not interested because I will not support the Political-Correctness agenda, which clearly is the only reason for this film.

rebooting/remaking movies with a female cast seems to be the thing now. ocean's eleven, roadhouse and expendables are also getting the same treatment.

??? Since half the population of this planet are women, the true Political correctness would have a 50/50 cast.
This reboot looks like a middle finger to the massive dose of testosterone infused actioners the movie industry is throwing at us on a weekly basis --> the opposite of Political correctness. Just my 2 cents..

Interesting how making them with an all male cast in the first place is fine, but the reverse is an outrage.

If nothing else the reaction to this movie has shown how utterly selfish and pathetic men act when faced with the same treatment we've been giving women for decades.

I'm fine with the new cast to my surprise. I thought I would dislike the actors. The only one that I'm worried about is the black lady....she has the potential to be really annoying. It's weird, cuz Winston wasn't like that at all.

WHAT BUGS ME is that their trailer made me think this was in the same universe as the original movies...only for me to later find out online that it's not.

Women aren't a gimmick. They are half the species, who have been systemically under represented in cinema for decades. You don't have to like the movie, I personally found the trailer underwhelming and I was looking forward to it. But being upset because it has an all female cast after the first two had all male casts is pathetic. Just pathetic.

Why not have a female Rambo? It's no more absurd than what the original Rambo got up to. Gina Carano would be a more convincing Rambo than Stallone was.

nobody's saying women are a gimmick but remaking/rebooting movies with women are. like I said why not create an original film? ever seen aliens or kill bill? original films with strong badass female leads. there is absolutely no reason to remake movies and changing the character's genders.

It amounts to the same thing. If it is legitimate to make a film with an all male cast, it is equally legitimate to make a film with an all female cast, especially in the same franchise. They aren't changing the characters genders, these are new characters. Even if they were I fail to see the problem if it isn't set in the same universe.

Watching the trailer again, its grown on me, I like it. A bit concerned about the seemingly stereotypical black woman role but hopefully there is more to her than what we've seen.

Lordbest, the movie preview is chock full of stereotypes; if you're hoping for anything else, sorry. That's why this is another easy pass for me personally.

yea but why remake old movies instead of coming up with something new? remaking movies with an all female cast, no matter how you slice it just comes off as gimmicky.

That's an entirely different question. Hollywood has always done remakes, right from the 1910s. Remakes are legitimate, its not like there is only one way to tell a story. An all female cast is no more gimmicky than an all male cast.
