Star Trek toys - could use some advice

I came here to get some advice from wiser people than myself. I'll try to keep it short. About 10-15 years ago I was into collecting Star Trek toys. I amassed quite a few. Went college, things got boxed up, got married, they stayed in boxes for about 10 years until recently. I'm not asking how much it's worth, I've checked ebay. I'm actually wondering if anyone can advise me...should I sell or hold onto this stuff? (I'll list a general idea of what I have below) I just don't know this market well enough to know if these things will increase in value in say..10-20 years. I have no issue boxing it all back up and waiting. It just breaks my heart to sell this stuff for pennies. I admit was shocked when I hit ebay and saw mint figures going for $3. Even if you don't like Star Trek...I mean...dude...1990 something unopened figures...that's awesome. The Art Asylum stuff seems to actually be going for decent amounts, but I'm more looking for advice on should I just cryogenically freeze all of this again for another decade or more. If you read this far, thank you very much. I'd appreciate any opinions on this. If pictures or more details are needed, just ask.

Here's a general rundown of what I have. I have a lot of Playmates toys, a good amount of Art Asylum stuff.

Playmates:
* LOTS of unopened Next Generation figures. A few DS9 figures. Examples...Inner Light "Galen" Picard, Lor, Dr Soong, Sarek..many more.
* Voyager, works with box (all of the ships have been opened)
* Generations Enterprise B, works with box
* Space Talk Enterprise D, works with box
* Generations battle damage Enterprise D, works with box
* DS9, no box but complete
* TOS Enterprise, no box but complete
* loose Enterprise D, Klingon Battlecruiser, Defiant
* I have a few more, but you get the idea

Art Asylum (have complete sets of each)
* Wave 1 unopened TOS figures (green shirt Kirk, etc) - have 2 of this
* Wave 2 unopened TOS figures (mirror Spock, etc)
* Enterprise Broken Bow (No Shran, no sure if he was technically part of this or not)
* Enterprise Away Team set
* Nemesis Picard, Data, Shinzon, Viceroy
* Borg Assimilation 1 of 3, 2 of 3, 3 of 3
* Enterprise A, works but no box

Here are my general thoughts.

If you still derive enjoyment from the collection and don't need to sell, then by all means hold onto it.

Western economies are in trouble. The amount of debt at all levels is mind-boggling, and the energy price war has created other imbalances that could result in shocks before the decade is through. Many collectors could be motivated to consolidate and dishoard in order to raise cash for bills and other obligations. That will exert downward pressure on the prices for many collectibles.

If you feel motivated to liquidate and can let some things go without undue anguish, maybe consider it sooner rather than later. Test the market by listing a handful of things, and it will give you a sense for whether to raise or lower your expectations for the rest.

i've got a bunch of things from that Star Trek era....and when i checked..none of it (surprisingly) was worth much at all...
I'm not attached to mine and would easily get rid of it for small price..

I discovered the same thing. Much of my old stuff was practically worthless and went to charity. The only things I kept were a handful of vintage Transformers and a carry case of Star Wars action figures, and of those, only the Star Wars figures sold for a good sum late last year.

The question I ask is: "Can I live without this?" The answer is usually "Yes," but there are a few things that link me to my inner child, and they stay. :D
