MU Variant Question

Hey gang, quick question. I just got the new wave of MU figures from BBTS. I picked up a case of 12. In the case are two Winter soldiers. Both of my Winter soldiers have long hair (but the pic on the back and the art show him as short hair). So which figure is considered the variant?

TheSymbiote 06-29-2010 11:59 AM

im 90% sure the short hair is the variant

ZeoVGM 06-29-2010 06:19 PM

Long hair is the variant, not short.

trebleshot 06-29-2010 08:10 PM

That's what I think too. The only images I've seen of Winter Soldier in the comics is with short hair.

But hey, it could be a running change too. It seems odd that in a full case, both WS figures would be the "variant."

rwsharpjr 06-29-2010 08:28 PM

So far, anyone that I've read/heard of getting Winter Soldier(either single or in a case), it's been the long hair version.
Hasbrotoyshop also has a case up for presale, and it has 2xlong hair pictured.

Thats the short hair version on hts.com

boombatty 06-30-2010 05:29 AM

Color me confused. Well, the short haired version has officially become my variant as I have the two long hairs but don't let the HTS picture fool you. The BBTS case comes straight from Hasbro in a Hasbro sealed box. The picture of the figure on the packaging is short hair and the art work is short hair. Also, all of the pics up until recently I have seen were of the short hair version. But it is odd that in a case of 12 both of mine would be the long hair version.

:?

Jasonwelcome 06-30-2010 06:27 AM

I'm interested in buying one of the long haired winter soldiers.

Well you are in luck then, BBTS still has them.

Yeah, you're right.
For some reason, I was trying to go by the carded pictures and ignored the loose pictures.
Whoops!
So they're exactly identical except for the hair piece, then?

Heeheehee, just a little binger to brighten up your day.

Tarquinius 06-30-2010 04:44 PM

Got mine in today and I got long hair FYI

TheSymbiote 06-30-2010 05:15 PM

i think maybe the short hair is the variant because at my comic shop they only had two of the long hair and none of the short hair

Saint Phe 07-01-2010 04:51 AM

Maybe comic shops and online retailers are getting the long hair version and everywhere else will get the short hair.

Tarquinius 07-01-2010 05:52 AM

Either way I think I'm gonna get both. And then make long hair bucky his KGB days and short bucky his SHIELD/FURY days and repaint the star on his arm

Generally, the one that's shown on the back of the cardboard and in the art and in the promotional figures is the normal one. If you get the long-haired one, it's still the short-haired figure on the back of the cardboard.

But like this person above said:

This seems to be how Hasbro are doing the variants as of now.

I'm seeing the Wolverine with new head sculpt only in my local comic shops. And I finally, for the second time ever, saw the glossy Red Hulk at one the other day too.

There's actually an old post on here about it. It's harder to tell in pictures, it's more noticeable in person:

Marvel Universe Fury Files Wave 4 Red Hulk Variant Found

There were two pictures of a dark Daredevil on Ebay or something a year ago, both of which looked a little different, and two people on the internet have claimed to see the dark Daredevil in stores but didn't buy it or take a picture so there's no proof of it.

And they're smartasses about it at times because it's hard to believe "well, two people in the entire MU community claim to have seen it but didn't buy it or take a picture and it hasn't been on Ebay since it first was, so it's confirmed to exist".

I was just being a smartass, but I honestly don't believe I saw it anymore either. Put your tampon in and grow a sense of humor.
