Lego always nails it....

ShadowStitch 02-13-2016 08:05 AM

As usual for toyark and friends, comprehensive photo coverage is ruined by giant watermarks slapped right in the middle of the pictures. Because it's way more important to know who took the picture than actually SEE what was photographed, right?

Time to go look for toyfair galleries elsewhere.

That about sums it up. While I don't collect LEGO full on, for me it's still the greatest toy line ever created.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is the Star Scavenger from? I can't say that I've ever seen anything like that in the Star Wars universe. I can't read the names of the characters, and the only thing they remind me of is some of the characters in the SW Aftermath book.

We have no choice. People steal our stuff with no credit given. Has been that way for years. Please feel free to spend a few thousand of your own dollars traveling to Toy Fair, NYCC, SDCC, Botcon, Joecon, etc. and post 10,0000 or so completely unwatermarked or easily removed wartermarked images. Then not be furious when a few dozen major fan sites steal those pics and act like they took them.

I kind of agree with ShadowStitch here. What is more important: Giving the users clear images of the products or maintaining credit for the images. I understand that stealing images is a crappy thing to do, but protection from that at the expense of compromising the said image is overkill. Moving the watermark around the subject of the image would be a good compromise, I think. It may take longer, but it might be worth it.

Never going to happen. Automated process. Center it is. People not leeching off our hard work is, and always will be, a high priority.

I don't understand why it's an issue? Am I missing something here? It's not like it's massive, I'm having zero problem looking at what's in the image. Furthermore, maintaining credit for the images is obviously more important. They don't do this shit for free, it takes time and money out of them. Why would they willingly do the majority of the work for a slew of other websites? It makes absolutely no sense. Toyark is a business not a charity, small scale but a business nonetheless.

Zorn88 02-13-2016 11:07 AM

I literally did not even know that these were watermarked until I read the comments complaining about it.

I understand their need to watermark their images, and I think that they did an extremely well done job placing them.

People need to get over themselves. Sorry that your mom or girlfriend shit in your cornflakes this morning. I have never once felt like the water mark inhibited my ability to view the image I'm looking at on this site. And I've been to others where it did obscure enough to be a bit annoying.

People are always complaining on here about entitlement, or whiners getting what they want, or the P.C. crowd ruining their lives by making them think outside the box, for once in their skeevy existence. Well here, my fellow 'Arkers, we have entitlement culture at its finest. Over a freaking water mark.

And on topic, I can't wait for that Bucky and Black Panther set.

Badmoonrising4 02-13-2016 01:28 PM

Haha! The only reason anyone would complain about those watermarks is if they were here to steal the images and market them as their own. Don't listen to them Joe! Your efforts are greatly appreciated. I've been looking forward to this day for many weeks. Fantastic work as always!

I think its from this new show: Lego Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures.
Apologies for the double post...

CrockAlley 02-13-2016 01:56 PM

I like the "back door" Suicide Squad sets. I'm always happy to get more comic book DC sets from Lego.

You are correct. Just looked it up, and that is definitely the ship in LSWTFA... The battle droid made me think of Mr. Bones from the Aftermath book.
