Black Panther
1 Attachment(s)
Got bored during the lull before Toy Fair, and with the recent announcement that we would be getting a MCU Black Panther. When I saw that new Morbius torso, something inside my brain clicked, I thought I'd take a stab at a more contemporary comic book look, especially since prices for the classic Black Panther figures have sky-rocketed on the secondary market as of late. So...here he is!
This version of Panther was created using a Morbius buck and cape, head cast from Casting Cave, and Tamiya Color Acrylics. His necklace comes from a Monster High Scarah Screams doll, painted gold to accent his golden highlights. I went with a black gloss on the forearms, mask and cape, to mix up the color palette a little, although might give it another stab using some mattes next time. It feels nice to finally have a classic looking Panther on my shelf to go along with the rest of my Avengers team. And best of all, it's simple enough that anyone can do it and avoid that secondary market ridiculousness. Hope you guys like it! http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...3_125815-1.jpg http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...213_125610.jpg http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...213_125440.jpg |
Awesome custom, dude! What's up with T'Challa's bling!?!? Those Cuban-links, or Herringbone? Panther's flossin'!!! Ahhahaha!
Great job! |
Looks good man!

He looks Fantastic. One small detail I would add is a Belt Buckle of some type.

Thanks for all the compliments and comments!
@kenm2474: I thought about painting a buckle, but since this was the first real project I've done where I had to paint things outside of the head, I decided not to go to elaborate on it, since I have unsteady hands as is. I'm currently in the process of getting another buck to do a Panther 2.0 with more detail! |

I'm still rather new to this, outside of the Blade custom I recently did (which really wasn't much of a challenge,) this is my first real shot at painting the actual figure, and I'm still learning as I go. *does his best John Hammond impersonation from Jurrasic Park... "Next time....It will be perfect!"... =P |
