McFarlane Gears of War 4 JD Figure
|
"We still have yet to see this articulation in action, so we’re not sure how poseable these will actually be."
I appreciate Joe saying this because the last Spawn figure I got technically had around 12 points of articulation but only three were actually notable and to use them horribly broke the musculature of the figure. I still enjoy said figure (the last commando Spawn) as a display piece but on first glance this new figure looks like it might be heading the same route. |
Wow these pictures are gorgeous, looks just like the charcter.
As long as the sculpt is good Im all over it. |
i don't like his pants....lol
no really..i don't..what material is that...burlap? |
I couldn't stand the 5 inch Walking Dead series due to all the joints in the figures, it just took away from how realistic Todd's older figures looked, and a few had various paint flaws like the skin color on the face not matching the neck very well to missing hair paint. So with any luck the 7 inch line will be painted and be sculpted as well as Neca's various lines and if so, I'll probably Ebay the deluxe figures I have and start collecting the 7 inch line. Not sure about the stands though. I think it would have been cooler if he went back to the type of stands some of his horror figures came with that were made to look like pavement or dirt or what have you.
But one can't have it all. |

I wish NECA had gotten Gears back for this new entry because I've seen all the color tops figures so far and they don't impress. The sculpting is good because they're basically statues but the paint was really sloppy from figure to figure. One Rick I found had terribly lazy looking eyes while another had a deal of brown bleeding from the hair onto the figure's face. If these things aren't gonna have any articulation worth speaking of couldn't they all have the same at least good standard of painting.

Wow McFarlane, thanks for providing 30 individual production photos of a figure with apparently two POA (shoulders?), all in the same exact pose.

McFarlane just can't get it right when it comes to articulation. The 5" figures moved decently enough but the actual articulation itself was piss-poor in terms of maintaining the integrity of the sculpt, especially with all of the ugly peg holes in the shoulders/hips/etc. Now, instead of evolving and improving like NECA has done, they're just going the statue route which so far - judging from the WD product clogging pegs at retail - looks like a massive mistake. McFarlane really needs to look at what NECA's doing in terms of consistently providing great, mostly-hidden articulation. But perhaps McFarlane is having money problems and can't afford to do that. |
To make the eyebrow raise further, the in package pic clearly has knee articulation, but not one of the other photos has that joint? You can see the cut and the peg in package, but somehow once you open it, it disappears?
