Depends on the Smoke. The cyber-ninja version of Smoke bore the dark, indigo color of the statue, while the human version was a light grey...

Yes the original (cyborg) Smoke was actually a purple color while his human appearance wears gray. Later cyborg versions would also use gray or he was even black in MKX, unless you're using second-player colors then he is purple again.
