Ultimate Evil Dead 2 Ash

First Tease For Evil Dead 2 Ash Ultimate 7-Inch Figure by NECA

Looks like I'll be getting an updated ED2 Ash.

I liked the original version enough to display it along with Leatherface/Jason/Freddy who are fitting to the blood and gore theme...but Ash tends to fall down a heck of a lot more than the others. So this is a welcomed figure.

redx24 06-16-2016 09:00 AM

If you could just ship the cabin to me that would be just swell!

Dolemite 06-16-2016 10:52 AM

The dude at NECA who takes their figure pics has the best job.

Joe Moore 06-16-2016 11:02 AM

He's a good guy too. Got to talk with Steve a bit once and see how he shoots and such. Got to watch him shoot the Power Loader packaging and promo photos.

Thor Laserpunch 06-16-2016 12:17 PM

This is a welcome surprise. I thought their first run at ED figures didn't do so hot?

En Sabah Nerd 06-16-2016 12:25 PM

Interesting that it appears to be the farewell to arms Ash and not the finale hero Ash. The majority of the movie does feature him as only missing the hand and still having a whole shirt so maybe that's why they appear to have gone with this look. Perhaps they're holding out and giving us an ultimate Army of Darkness Ash as well for his chainsaw hand? I prefer ED2 but AoD gave us the more complete badass Ash so an ultimate of that version would also be scooped up. Heck I'll always keep NECA's previous hero Ash on display just because it's Ash.

Except for Henrietta they all sold phenomenally. I had to get hugely lucky to manage to get a Hero Ash for base retail price in 2014 and the initial release was in 2012.

Ohhhhhh hell yes.

deathbymexico 06-16-2016 05:06 PM

Got super lucky and scored hero and farewell ash for $10 Piece, but i'm basically all in on Necas ultimate stuff so i shall buy

Bruce Campbell says they don't have the rights to Army of Darkness any more (which is why they don't use footage from it in AvED's story recap and act as if it didn't happen) so I doubt NECA will be releasing new AoD figures under this line. NECA might be able to pick up a separate license for it from the people that currently do hold the rights though.

Wish this was already out so I could give one to my dad on Sunday, he loves Evil Dead.

I always found it funny that they don't have the rights to Army of Darkness, but the Necronomicon NECA includes with their 7inch scaled ED2 figures, is sculpted after the AoD Necronomicon...except for the 8inch Retro figures which uses an ED2 cover XD

Joe Moore 06-17-2016 06:50 PM

They do have the Army of Darkness license. They confirmed that on Twitter tonight.

I feel like I heard otherwise, but I'm probably wrong as usual. Henrietta was still a great figure though either way.

Odd that the "Ultimate" version does not have the chainsaw hand or the laughing deer head. This is not much of an update imo. The evil Ash body parts don't mean much to me personally--although I'm sure they're a great inclusion for some people--and the tape recorder looks great but is practically useless as an accessory since we're not getting that awesome scale cabin mockup. And since he probs can't hold Linda's head, it doesn't do much for me either. Kinda feels like a wash. A maniacally laughing head and a trash can would have been more welcome for me since he's only got the stump hand.

Ok, the laughing deer mount is also useless without some kind of setup, but it was a lot more fun than a damn tape recorder.

Lovetoys101 06-17-2016 08:40 PM

Figure looks great, love Evil Dead, & can't wait for Ash vs Evil Dead figures. So far it looks like Neca has made another masterpiece.

I wish the deer head that came with the hero Ash had a hole in the back for thumb-tack wall mounting like some of the old Toy Biz Marvel bases had because it's a brilliant little accessory. As is you either have to use double-sided tape or just have it on the ground.

I think they went with this look since it's how he spends like 96% of the movie but also the swap parts allow owners to choose from a couple of his scene changes as where hero Ash with chainsaw hand at the end goes through no variations and couldn't be part-swapped into a different look since his shirt was torn at that point. Heck one could argue this figure is also first Evil Dead Ash.

redx24 06-18-2016 02:52 AM

I don't normally break scale but dammit I want 2 of this figure. If they made the cabin for retail id buy it in a heart beat and fill it with monster badness for ash to whoop ass in

yanezm86 06-18-2016 05:46 PM

Wait

Don't you mean a severed Linda head?
