Marvel Legends Question regarding release dates
Hello Everyone,
I am curious.... does anyone know when the Marvel Legends action figures will come out? Toys R Us exclusive Sam Wilson, Kate Bishop, Vision Wal-mart Exclusive Winter Solider, Falcon Walgreen Exclusive Punisher Target Exclusive War Machine, and Disco Iron-man When I do a search for them, all I see are the ebay figures and they seem very overpriced. I just want to make sure I didn't miss a release date and should bite the bullet and buy them on Ebay, or they haven't been released yet, but once they are, I can get them at a better price... Also, how are these guys getting these figures? Do they have someone on the inside who tells them when they are in the store? When I go to these stores they never have them.... and I have never seen an actual "release date", which brings up another good question.... is there a website or place I can go where Hasbro gives the official street date so I know when to expect them? |
Welcome to the boards. I'm afraid it's not that simple, but I will say patience is key.
Figures don't usually have hard set street dates (In the US), though sometimes they're held until certain display/stock resets, such as the upcoming one at Target where they'll be redoing their displays and thus, wanting to have full stock shelves, then use their exclusives to draw attention to their new display. Bear in mind that a Target exclusive in the US isn't a Target exclusive overseas or obeys the same release cycle. Singapore, Europe, China, etc. For example, the War Machine/Disco Iron Man set has been out for months overseas because it wasn't an exclusive there ever. That's also part of the reason they are a bit overpriced, because of the international costs. The forums at sites like this is the best for news; wait for US showings or posts about resets and figures, as well as some experience and understanding; you don't give your location, but after years of experience I know to generally give a "first" sighting in California a week or two before I should even bother to look at stores here in Michigan for them, to allow the distribution lines to move the product from the docks in the West to be put on a truck and move across most of the country, move through the distribution centers, and get stocked on my local store shelves. Yes, there are exceptions, but still, by and large you can't expect your local stores to have them if the distribution centers don't have them. Target and Toys R Us do resets every few months and when they focus on certain brands, that's usually when their exclusives become easy to find; especially if they're tied into a home release of a film from the same brand. Walgreens has actually made if fairly easy, just wait until it's actually up and active on the website, then use the locate tool to find it in stock at a store near you. It actually completely removed the guesswork for me for getting Namor. I knew which store had stock, how many, and just went in and bought it. Walmart, I'm afraid, is going to be luck based, at least in my experience. Distribution can come at any time and sometimes can bypass some stores altogether. Again, watch for sightings on message boards to clue you in on what's finally reached domestic shelves. |
Thanks Prime, I appreciate the feedback!
