Love the attention to detail. I had no idea NECA's interpretation of the character was "off" in so many minor ways.

That said, if you're going for balls-out screen accuracy, why not go for a more leather-y looking cape?

I wasn't going to say anything about it, but I ordered a Tony Mei cape, and the thing was utter rubbish. I read a review someone wrote where they commented that his cape for this figure sits like a napkin on a candle stick. That's pretty accurate.

Ah, sorry to hear that. Fabric can be really tricky when it comes to these things.

I ended up going to Hobby Lobby and buying a foot of thin pleather material and painting it black. It didn't sit right for the longest time, so you may have to work the material until it finally looks like a cape that the laws of gravity apply to.

Well I imagine there's a point where given the size and the fact that they have to be mass produced that NECA decides they've done enough work on a figure. If they spent too much time going after every single little detail (that most people would be unaware of) they'd probably have to start charging more for their figures or they'd be releasing less over time.

True, but with this figure, I don't believe that to be the case. For one thing, the 1/4 scale version didn't have the issue with the lower half of the face not being wide enough. The main difference between the figures in that regard is that the 1/4 scale had a full head inside the cowl, whereas with this one, the head is carved up smaller (maybe so it'd be easier to put in the cowl during production?). Either way, that was just a design flaw. As for the torso being too thin, the 1/4 scale version was the same way. I don't think it had anything to do with keeping costs down, I think it was just a poor design.

John888481 I'm wondering if you could produce the same thing for me at all?? I absolutely love what you've done and am really keen to widen the face sculpt, the torso and shoulders on this guy but am only new to collecting and have definitely never customised before. If however you don't take commissions, could you recommend any place I could look for a similar result? Thanks heaps!

I think the torso being thin might have at least partly been to increase (or at the very least, have any semblance of) torso articulation, possibly?
