Absolute, immediate buy. Asked about this multiple times in the past and psyched to see it actually happening.

Dolemite 08-25-2016 10:17 AM

Ho...ly...shit. Wow, I'm with Joe...instant purchase, although where the hell I'm going to fit it in my current set-up, I have no idea. Glad to finally see a Lambert figure coming as well! That one was a no-brainer, as all they needed for her was nothing but a new held-sculpt.

Joe, do you think this is simply their Cinemachines piece scaled up, or a brand-new sculpt? I'm noticing weathering on the Space Jockey (I'm NOT calling him an Engineer!!) that I don't see on my Cinemachines piece on my desk, but that could just be paint work?

I am for sure getting this as well, immediately! Out of all the characters from the Alien films, Space Jockey is near the top of my list for most wanted (I don't even care that this probably will have no articulation).

Think it's a new sculpt. The close up shot of the head is more detailed than the Cinemachines version. Technically, if they knew they were doing this, they could have sculpted this first and had the team scale it down for the Cinemachines line.

SOLD!

It's official,NECA is the greatest toy company ever.

suchaname 08-25-2016 10:34 AM

Where in the blue f**k am I gonna put that?!

It'll be bad enough fitting in the Queens and the 'Loader with the Predator Blade Fighter lol.

If it had any articulation, it wouldn't be screen accurate, which is what NECA is all about.

Dr Kain 08-25-2016 10:50 AM

Oh my god, this is exactly what I was hoping to see like two years ago.

Typically, but if this was 100% screen accurate, this needs to be twice as big as it is. Kane/Dallas should be about the length of the Space Jockeys arm, Jockey's arm is longer than they are tall. Still cool, and prob better the scale isn't accurate because most people wouldn't have the room for something that big.

The Heat 08-25-2016 11:05 AM

Chiming in with another instant-purchase. The Space Jockey scene is my favorite scene in all of cinema, so there's no way I'm passing this up.

Hmm...interesting comments in regards to how accurate the scale of the Jockey is. But bear in mind that the scale of the Jockey to the Nostromo astronauts varies in the movie because Ridley Scott used children in wide shots to make the Jockey and derelict ship set look bigger, such as in this shot:

However, look at this shot where it's obvious that the grown-up actors are being used...they look more in-scale with the NECA pics:

My Alien fan friend is going to **** bricks.

Harbinger 08-25-2016 11:09 AM

So is lambert gonna be in the set or is neca just rubbing salt in the wound? ;) That does look good but like others have said where in the hell am i gonna put it haha.

The Heat 08-25-2016 11:16 AM

Seeing how bad Dallas peg warmed, I bet they'll make Lambert a pack-in with this set.

Oh man, you're the best. I tired to link in pics but was having issues and I gave up. And you nailed it about the difference in scale. I like the large establishing shot that makes the Space Jockey appear so massive in scale. Also the smaller scale is they way they went with in Prometheus as their "Engineers" were about this scale as well. I'm still getting this period because it's amazing.

This is foam? I actually like that better, means it wont weight a ton. And the new Facehugger NECA just released is foam as well so makes sense, NECA uses foam for most of their replicas. I assumed this was a figure without articulation that was more statue like, like the cinemachines. I'm glad to be wrong. And these pics you just added have me even more pumped now.

This is also pretty much how the engineer was revealed to size up to them in Prometheus, which was a nice little way to confirm how big the space jockey was more so meant to be.

And you changed the image links and broke my images, ya creep! ;)

Fixed!

Dolemite 08-25-2016 12:38 PM

Foam? That's...interesting. As pointed out already, at least it won't weigh a ton, but how sturdy is this foam?

Dragasses 08-25-2016 12:45 PM

the various pictures show just how often NECA gets "it" right.

the devil's in the details, and in some shots I can barely tell between the movie stills and their dio shots.

Alucard1138 08-25-2016 12:57 PM

Never mind. Pre-Order just went live on BBTS, I don't have nor am I willing to spend $320 on this. It's great, looks awesome, but I should have realized after the update came out a bit ago that this was foam, that it'd be priced like their other foam replicas. I can't justify this purchase now...

Can you give us a link? I can't find a pre-order for this anywhere yet.

If it's really $320 you can count my ass out as well.
