Man, what a fantastic shoot!:Elmer As if I needed more incentive to throw my money away... ARG.

These beasts are all incredible looking. My wallet permits me only one of the three - Ghost - but the pics show the other two in all their paint-on-plastic glory.

Every time NECA announces new Predator figures, I get all giggy like I was 10 again during Christmas time. Can't wait for my pre-order to arrive and open my postal present!

Dolemite 10-24-2016 09:41 AM

Fucking astonishing Predator wave and photo shoot. NECA has really outdone themselves this time! Spiked Tail is the greatest Predator figure I've ever seen and makes me want an an upgraded Battle Armor Lost Predator all the more using the new buck.

All three of these were originally going to use the old body type but were upgraded to the new one, correct? If so, that was some fast turnaround after the change...I would have expected a significant delay.

Yeah, when originally shown at Toy Fair and SDCC, they were using the old body styles. But, I believe they were already working on getting them on the new body styles by SDCC. The change was 100% worth it.

I'm ready for these badboys already !!!!

The Heat 10-24-2016 10:54 AM

I really like all of these guys, though I'm not really a huge fan of the netting being painted over as flesh color. It's okay on Stalker and anything that's cloaked/transparent, but it really bugs me on anything else.

That aside, these are all really cool. I'll probably grab Spiked-Tail and paint over his netting.

Me too!

Ok now for the elephant in the room...WTF is the netting for anyway? I know the predator had it in the movie and all and maybe that can be explained but why do the all have it? I can get past the transparency as it is kinda the predator's thing to make things cloaked. So why can't they have technology that makes their netting blend in with their skin tone like they do their surroundings in the movies. BUT WHY DO THEY HAVE IT?

I believe there have been a couple of stabs at explaining the netting. One I read theorizes that the netting somehow plays into the cloaking mechanics like it helps distribute the cloak field or some such nonsense. Another suggests that it provides a minimal protection since the nets from their net launcher weapons are this incredibly high durability material we could safely assume their body nets are also highly resistant to harm and maybe offer some protection against physical attacks.

The netting not being painted on these nor on the series 13 predators doesn't bother me at all because the rest of the paint is still brilliant. Yeah I think it would look better painted or with the nets not being sculpted at all but at the same time them being sculpted and not painted isn't a deal-breaker. I just write it off as the netting is cloaked all the time because why not?

Hmmm...I can see the netting as being a fiber optic that can project a screen across the surface from fiber to the other. I think that works for me I can even buy into the fact that it is extremely durable even though it hasn't really protected them against physical attacks in the past. Bullets, Alien tail, etc... I think cloaking assistance works best.

suchaname 10-24-2016 01:22 PM

First of all, Joe, you owe me £60 since these shots convinced me to order a second set of these! Stunning photos my good man.

Secondly, did they ever explain how City Hunter didn't take any direct hits to the body from Jerry (Bill Paxton) on the train? The netting acting as a force field was the only thing I could think of because some of the shots were central mass...

EvilMonkeyPope 10-24-2016 01:52 PM

Wasn't the netting said to regulate body temperature so they can hunt in any climate without specialized clothes?

Depends what's considered canon I suppose. NECA went to the trouble of saying the AvP crew were almost unique in being from a mountainous region and that they used thermal heated netting.

Mind you, the clans are all at different tech deployment levels...

snake5289 10-24-2016 03:53 PM

Damn those all look sooo good.

Tokyomeltdown 10-24-2016 03:59 PM

Love this shoot! the Endos are perfect. Really digging the Stalker's alien armor.

Because it gave the creature an interesting visual aesthetic? I doubt Stan Winston's crew gave it much thought beyond that. Since then its just become part of the standard design, wouldn't give it too much thought.

Pretty much this. At the same time it is sorta fun for fans to guess the in-universe purpose, just something to think about.

I am sure you are right but at the same time they retain the aesthetic like it does have a purpose so it would make sense for it to have some purpose or to lose it all together. As some stated above their presence may bother you if you cannot justify them.

Bearjew 10-24-2016 08:04 PM

I guess we are still looking at late November release for these?

EvilMonkeyPope 10-24-2016 09:41 PM

Perhaps it does nothing but Preds are just being fashionable?

Considering the practicality of some of their masks you may be right

On the shipping calendar for late November. Probably won't actually hit stores until early December.

9000 HAL Robots 10-25-2016 08:16 AM

Fantastic photos! Thanks! Very tempting to pick up Ghost and Spiked Tail, but I'm saving my money for Clan Leader and Scar Face.

My spiked tail is missing the copper back piece to mount his weapons.

Jeez this figure is plagued with issues, sorry to hear that.

The shoulder pad came off mine in minutes, I can fix it, but that's not the point.
