Methinks comic cave may be heading for the ol porcelin throne. They seem to be canceling everything

Robogeek28 01-04-2017 11:18 AM

Bad news for those folks that wanted all of the movie armors.

Hell, I forsee them losing a lot of other sales because of this news, as I always see Mark VII armor as being a much wanted version in people's lists of wants.

ssgGwapO 01-04-2017 11:35 AM

Another one..

Not sure how I'm supposed to keep a solid Iron Man comicave collection with all these cancellations.. Hulkbuster might have to be the last buy since I'll never have the rest of the movie armors. Maybe one of the reasons that the prices dropped on what they already have out.

Captainkrabs 01-04-2017 02:09 PM

Wonder what's going on there.
I recieved my first Omni Class some weeks ago which is their Igor, and holy molly is it fantastic.
I have the Hulkbuster & Silver Centurion preordered, and I'm tempted to get their Shotgun & MK 42... Hope this line won't be finished sooner than expected :/

Thank you very much! I love them armors...

Hey All,

I see that BBTS recently posted the Comicave 1/12 scale Iron Man armors Mark VII and "Midas" MKXXI. Can anyone here comment on them, particularly as to how they compare with Figuarts / Figma / Mafex counterparts?

I have a few of them. They generally look gorgeous. But tend to have QC flaws in the engineering. For example I just got the Silver Centaurian figure. It's stunning. The paintwork is dead on. But most of the joints are plastic on plastic ball and socket. The right shoulder is just about seized. It makes a screeching noise when I try to move it. Plus the knee and foot joints are very soft and move too easily so they cannot support the weight of the figure without a stand (not included). The Igor is a nice massive display piece. But articulation is limited and he is incredibly top heavy So you need to worry about him shelf diving.

Comicave's paint work is A+. They use a lot of metal. The light up gimmicks are hit or miss and often more of a pain to turn on then they are worth. (you need to pry Igors head off, then open to turn on one of the two switches. You will do this exactly once before never bothering with it again.) The engineering on their joints are in a word... NOT BANDAI.

As an owner of several of these, and the awful predecessor companies "Play Imaginative" War Machine and Iron Patriot, I am going to say for the Mark VII, Bandai just announced theirs. It's the same price as the Comicave, and it comes with the Hall of Armor at that price. That's the one to get. Midas might be worth thinking about as a "display only" piece. So long as you keep your expectations minimal and watch for a deal.

Thanks, Faelon! Much appreciated. Like you, I've only ever had good experience with Bandai. So, that's the one for me.

Thanks again!

I don't know if this is of interest to anyone besides myself, but FYI the "Midas" (golden) Iron Man figure by Comicave is up for pre-order at BBTS!

Exactly. This is how I began to feel about Hot Toys as well.

I tend to support the Figuarts line, myself, as discussed a little here. I agree with much of what faelon says above. I'd buy more of the ComicCave stuff, but only when it's very discounted and I truly feel like I'm landing a deal.
