London Toy Fair Funko Reveals

3 Attachment(s)
London Toy Fair has all kinds of great reveals. In terms of the Funko department, there is concept art for the newest previously revealed by Funko-Funko POPs oncoming this year.
For instance we have Parks and Rec Funko Pops! We have 90's nostalgia! (For 90's kids like yours truly) and Tekken Pops! And much more! I'll try to update the pics as I find it. Not sure if anyone discusses Funko here but I could see the interest for it ! :D

Jesus, even as a Pop(!), Nick Offerman is manly as hell.
RUGRATS?! If 90's Nickelodeon is on the table, I want Doug and Ren and Stimpy. Pleasethankyou.

Here is everything they revealed. Wasn't going to post these as we stopped covering Pops & such, but with over 200 individual figures/items, it's hard to ignore.

I am liking those videogame minis!!!

If we're talking 90's, I'll vote for Disney's Recess

Thank you so much! So many goodies :D

Brownfinger 01-24-2017 02:34 PM

Ho-lee crepes, I need those MST3K ones. Little Crow is adorable. New Mass Effect, yup, that's happening. Ooo, I want the Dig Dug minis.
Oh! And McCree!

Okay, I'm in trouble here.
Why did Funko give up on the Legacy stuff? With all of the licenses they have, they could pump out an endless parade of figures from popular media that we would otherwise not have. The quality started off a little strange, but the joints and sculpt work were showing serious improvement near the end.

Hobgoblin238 01-24-2017 04:26 PM

Please stop calling what Funko does as figures. the only figures I see are the Twin Peaks. The rest is crap

Marvelfangirl 01-24-2017 04:47 PM

Ouch dude. They are toys or what you call figures.

EvilMonkeyPope 01-24-2017 05:37 PM

Get back to me when they finish the Firefly & GOT Legacy lines.

Eh, as much as I hate Pops and the like, I have to somewhat agree with Marvelfangirl on a simple logic level. Figure is simply a shortening of the word, "Figurine," and since we can call a statue of any kind a "figurine," Toyark is not in the wrong in referring to Pops as figures, as whilst they aren't ACTION figures, they are FIGURES.

Still, a happy medium would probably be to separate the two with saying "action" or "Pop" before "figure(s)" in the article titles, but that's just me.

MUfan97 01-24-2017 11:58 PM

I see possible reuse fodder on those Twin Peaks figures.

Also, am I the only one seeing extra swivels in that one woman's elbows? Like, just a simple rotation?

Panthro1978 01-25-2017 12:37 AM

Could be very tempted by the Lexa 100 Pop Vinyl, even though I really hate Pop Vinyls.

They made a series of bad choices with that line which seems to have mostly killed it, but it technically does still exist since they just released those two League of Legends figures. Just because they have the license for a lot of things though doesn't mean they can do a sculpted figure with likeness. Funko gets off very easy since none of their pops bear any likeness to their respective performers what-so-ever so they don't have to pay for any likeness rights. For the most part then they just can't make actual figures based on those characters sourced from live-action performances. Regarding licenses not involving likeness rights (games and animated characters) it probably comes down to either Funko or the license holder. If it's Funko deciding to not do figures then it's a thing of costs and ease, it costs more and is harder to make a more detailed figure than a pop and maybe they fear the detailed figure wouldn't sell to cover costs. If it's the license holder's decision then it could be that they don't want Funko to make detailed figures for whatever reason, perhaps because they are already in a deal with another company.

Funko announced Munsters in a list of properties while talking about Reaction. They were then asked about Aadams Family and the response was they could not get all of the licenses they wanted. A year later they are talking about Aadams Family and ignoring Munsters, including questions about Munsters. I don't think this was a licensing issue.

I really wanted a Lily for a Bride of Dracula for my Universal Monsters. A really well done Morticia MIGHT work, but we will probably never see either of them.

The problem is that Funko is no longer producing ReAction figures. They're doing their own 9 points of articulation figures these days. The ReAction name is now exclusive to Super 7.

I'm a bit disappointed that they still haven't shown the Rick and Morty minis. Hopefully they are waiting for season 3 to premiere and haven't scrapped them completely.

Brownfinger 01-26-2017 02:30 PM

Oh, hello there, Mass Effect: Andromeda.

Interesting.
That's really all I was saying, that I wished to see the line thrive. (the video game properties moreso) I don't play League of Legends, but hopefully it bodes well for continuity of the line.
