This is cool. At first I wasn't sure exactly what they were going for, but then I realized it was the Aliens version of the xenomorph and the "imagined successor" part made sense. Any clue why this thing is so insanely expensive?

ColonialMarine5 03-02-2017 12:52 PM

Not bad, but not NECA. 30th Anniversary Aliens Warrior from NECA is also 18 inches and photo/film accurate. Oh, I forgot it only costs 99 dollars too.

You're missing the point then. Its not supposed to be ultra detailed and realistic like a Neca figure. It's more of a 'what if' concept figure as in what if Kenner followed up their Alien figure from '79 with another large scale figure for Aliens in '86.

It's more like you're the one missing the point (and I say that meaning no offence). All he's saying is that NECA produces figures the same size with far more detailing, paint apps, articulation, etc, and all at approximately half the price. There's seriously nothing whatsoever to justify nearly $200 for this thing.

Because Super 7 obviously loves to fleece people. It's like when they were only selling The Worst figures as a set for $90. Nope, sorry.

Ah ok, I interpreted it as complaining that it wasnt as nice as Neca's and not so much as theres more value from Neca's for almost half the price. But, yeah, you guys are right.

I don't think the price is that bad. Each figure is about 15 buck I think and you get what you pay for. I actually wanna pick them up.

The Heat 03-02-2017 11:13 PM

Yeah, I'm just a big fan of the original Alien figure, so I appreciate the homage. I'd probably grab this if the price was anywhere close to reasonable.

i was gonna mention this in my other post but, didntnt want to turn it into a super7 piss take. I'm not seeing how those motu and sf2 figures are worth $15. the most appealing thing about them is the packaging, the figures themselves look no better than dollar store knock offs. sorry if that is harsh and i know $15 isn't a lot of money but, i don't really see the value in those figures. its almost as if they're selling the idea of the figures and the actual product itself is an after thought. my 2 or 3 cents..

Dolemite 03-03-2017 06:07 AM

I love The Worst figures (the designs are so much fun) and a lot of the Reaction figures in general, but I never buy them unless I can get them for $9 or $10 or less, as there's no way they're even remotely worth $15 or more, especially when a lot of other companies put out 5 POA figures of equal quality for $5 or $6.

ukmu 03-03-2017 08:25 AM

I like and love 23 points of articulation.... I also like 5 poa stuff. I hate in the middle shite. Give me loads of it or just the bare minimum. I like S7 stuff.... I am not into concept stuff or 18" figures...but in a cool giant retro figure collection this guy would be boss.

Wonderful Toys 03-04-2017 04:04 PM

Retro-style action figures shouldn't be as expensive as they are unless they were literally made 30 or 40 years ago. Even being 18 inches tall shouldn't up the price THAT much.

Tomax 03-06-2017 08:01 PM

the price is too much, ill pass on this one. i have mixed feelings about super7. they are too hush hush with their MOTU line. well have to see if they change, they are still thinking like they are still small time. they have a big franchise now like MOTU, they should focus on that

Interesting that it looks like they completely resculpted the entire thing from the ground up. I'd have sworn the new one reused parts, but apparently that's not the case.

hazzbrojonez 03-08-2017 07:55 AM

Super 7 gives you creator curated, looks like it was crowd-funded style aesthetics then overcharges you Bootleg Designer Toy prices for not quite-mass produced but definitely not home-made products.

they're using underground culture aesthetics to sell you mainstream shit.

i don't really like this company. that whole "skeletors throne room" shit was some boutique type entitlement, like we hold all the dork relics, so if you don't get it from us then you just don't like it

they're like a shoe street wear boutique if it was a toy company
"oh you dont like how we do stuff, well it doesnt matter cuz we're better than you anyway"

its because they know you want it , but you have to get it the way they deem it necessary to reach you or you don't "get it"

Dolemite 03-08-2017 09:26 AM

Honestly, after looking at the pics, I think I'm more impressed by the quality of the 1979 Kenner Alien figure than by Super 7's. If you look close, the sculpt on the 70's figure is actually more complex and detailed (look at the close-ups of the hands and feet). The quality of the Kenner fig was really a standout in an era where most action figures looked like shit. It was also an oddity in the sense that it was a kid's toy for a R-rated horror movie, which was unheard of at the time.

Yeah, I really hate this company too, it has nothing original or unique to offer, they only sell overpriced nostlagic toys. In general, I can't stand this disgusting trend of taking advantage of nostalgia. The sad truth is that are a lot of adult toy collectors fall to this trap and are like children running around with cerdit card with no sense of value for money and pathetically excusing it with "MAH CHILDHOOD" or "I NEED THAT". Those idiots contribute to the rise in prices of toys (see figma for exmple, from 22$ to 55$+ for 1/12 scale figure with few accessories, that's a rise of about 250% within 9 years! What joke), because they just can't say no at some point and have no boundaries.

I also think the original Kenner sculpt is superior to the lousy Super7 one. I keep wondering how the toy market would've look today if all the companies Mattel and Hasbro "swallowed" were still Independent individual toy companies, especially Kenner and Bluebird.

I have zero nostalgia for the toys of my childhood. ZERO. Honestly, the toys I played with as a child were garbage compared to all the awesome stuff we have today. I own only one of my childhood toys- my original 1982 mail-away straight arm Cobra Commander. Otherwise, I give no shits.

However, I don't hold it against people who DO run around re-buying their childhood action figures...everyone has their "thing," but when you get down to it, we're all just a bunch of grown-ups who collect toys, and that's cool.

hmm, interesting so what do you collect and why? if its not for nostalgia reasons? i have never heard a collector say that.

Many of them want cool plastic representations of characters they like, whether from their childhood or current interests. Some of them even just want cool-looking action figures.

I'm not talking about people who re-buy their original childhood toys which is fine and understandable. It's about those people who are signed in one of those stupid subscriptions clubs or buy any overpriced modren adult collector representation of childhood toy/character. Also, I completely disagree with your statement that toys in the past were garbage, even compared to our time. Toys back then were much more creative, unique, high quailty, durable and affordable. I like adult collector toys too, but still prefer playline toys because they're the real toys! This notion that adult collector toys are the better toys just because they have better articulation and details, is wrong. Toys meant to be played with, they supposed to be durable and affordable, which adult collector toys aren't.
