New Figure Collector - Need Advice

Hello. I've recently purchased a Boss Fight Studio Vitrivian H.A.C.K.S. 3.75" Serpentess Order Gorgon. It is the first ever action figure meant for older collectors that I have ever purchased. Before, I bought LEGOs and Hasbro's Transformers lines (to the exclusion of everything else).

Now, Boss Fight Studio's lovely gorgon figures were the ones to break me out of this shell, but this does mean that I have no experience regarding high-end figures and I've purchased a very small figure. I need advice, particularly if it pertains to the Vitruvian HACKS line.

Firstly: The Gorgons' tail coverings are made of soft plastic. Should I be worried about this in any fashion?
Secondly: Swapping parts: The figure's joints are all either on or are pegs that peg in tightly. The Serpentess Order's crystal-purple armor has a funny way of tabbing in where bendable plastic tabs bend around the figure's waist to peg into the back. Should i have any concerns or be notified of anything regarding these?
Thirdly: The hands: They're tiny, and while I have gotten the swords into them, I do have concerns. The sword's handle forces the hand open, and the right hand (which has had a sword placed into it for longer) doesn't have as tight a grip as it used to. What concerns should I have with these itty bitty hands?

Finally, any kind of general care and maintenance advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I do not anticipate buying SH Figurarts, Marvel's action figure line, or any other company's products besides what I have already purchased, but you never know (and knowing is half the battle)

I am a starter in figures collection too and I only collect some Transformer Minifigures of Lego and would like to buy more figures. The star wars series minifigures would be a great choice.

I have about 17 Boss Fight Vitruvian H.A.C.K. figures so far; with more on the way. I have changed up their gear a lot and I enjoy changing their poses from time to time too. I have painted a bunch of accessories and skeletons and they are all still stiff. Despite pulling of limbs and changing up armor they all continue to stand and pose very well.

Sometimes I spend a lot of time getting a hand to hold onto a shield and despite getting really ignorant on the toy they still hold up really well. Nothing has broken or become loose enough to be a problem.

I'm really happy with them.

I think you should feel comfortable with them and do with them as you want.

But considering how much time has passed from your post I'm guessing that you're know all this by now :)

Always loosen up hands for the weapon by dipping for a few seconds in really hot water. Not boiling but not bath water either. Maybe like a five minute old tea sort of hot. The heat will loosen the plastic up and make it more malleable. When it cools, it WILL snap back into original position.

The same can be done to joints, and heads. Simply heat, dip, hold and remove. This will greatly aid in the ease of removal and minimize the risk to the figure. In fact, the technique is called BOIL AND POP. The clue is in the name.

Figure Realm has plenty of illustrated visuals for all things action figures from day one noobs to savvy old skoolerz. You may ha e to join to access but it is quick and painless.

The following link should point you in the right directions for any other questions that may arise.

Plenty of reference and cross reference material and links galore. Welcome to the exciting world of collecting 1/18th scale action figures! Commonly referred as 4" by those that don't focus on it, and referenced as 3.75" by those that do.

Have fun, and my best advice is army build those gorgons and get a lot of warriors to fight them. If one looks good to you, imagine and entire shelf display!!! Keep us posted, and you can ALWAYS stop the the ToyArk thread Marvel 3.75" compatibility and share some pics and ask some questions...... welcome.
