DC Icons SuperSons 2 Pack Gallery
I kinda fell off of Icons here at the end, but I did pick this up. I am close to complete, so I may try and pick up the later ones over time. I like full line group shots :).

DC ICONS - Future
The DC Icons line is not "officially cancelled" - according to DCC, they're "giving it a break while they try Essentials".
It's frustrating because they've also put the other two of my favourite lines on "break": The Capullo line and the Arkham line. Doing this with Icons too honestly gives me no incentive to get any DCC figures in 2018. It's sad because I actually love the company and their figures, and will finish collecting all my Icons stuff. These are great figures, and I hope the line comes back. (Also, first post!) |
Have you tried warming Superboy's shoulder up with a hair dryer and then pushing it in the rest of the way? I just got the DCC New Batman Adventures Joker and his waist wasn't pushed in all the way. All I had to do was heat the torso up for 1 minute with a hair dryer and then push the lower half in the rest of the way. The waist is just a simple mushroom peg so it wasn't difficult.

i liked the icons and capullo line, too bad they are stoping it. i still wanna get the 2 face from the capullo line

That torso articulation looks horrible.

Technically, the 2012 Thundercats series is not officially canceled. Anyway, Damian looks cool, but what the hell is up with the fish face on Conner? |

Also welcome to the Ark! |
Thanks for adding the pic with Capullo Batman. I was thinking of picking this set up, but the scale is just far enough off to save me $50 or so.

If for some reason Essentials flops, I doubt they'd go back to this. The tech has gotten better here, but it's still too small and not quite "it" for most people. |
Really hoping we still see Blue Beetle and Booster 2 pack as well as Etrigan!! Since the initial pic of Etrigan he looked to be one of the best of the line. With the size correct half way through, I definitely was a fan of Icons.

I'm not sure why DCC can't figure out the only thing people wanted them to change was giving their figures more articulation and doing more than just New 52 characters. It isn't rocket science, but they decided to go and reinvent the wheel for some strange reason. |
After the great 4H DC line was cancelled. I sold off my entire collection due to financial issues a few yr back. And they cost a lot in the after market, so no sense in trying to get back into that line. But when I heard the DC icons line was coming out, I was pretty interested in it. But when I saw they were on the small scale side of exactly 6', my enthusiasm for a DC vs Marvel collection went up in a puff of smoke. I like the sculpts and they seem to have sufficient POA, but they also keep making just modern 52 versions and screw over classic DC fans. So I said, freak em, not getting my $. Hasbro at least mixes it up and gives Marvel fans a combo of classic, modern & MCU versions so all 3 fan bases are pretty well represented.

Damian looks great with DCUC Batman- which was why I got the set- much better than the Multiverse version. He comes across as more of a 10yr old than 13 I think- had he been Superboy's size he would be a perfect 13yr old scale- but they also mention in the comic a lot how small he is - so the size works for me. Multiverse Robin looks more like a 16yr old size when standing with the DCUC Batman, so I was really happy with how this Damian turned out

Although the Icons line was vastly inferior to 4H DCUCs, I did pick up a handful. At least the Icons were a fading attempt to represent some vintage, silver age characters. I cannot endure pointless New 52 & "Silver Screen" versions of Marvel & DC archtypes. I don't even care much for the way movie personalities have transmogrified, much less the costumes. Cold War Tony Stark was the 20th Century's evolution of "the man in the iron mask," condemned to wear his (AC-rechargeable) chestplate under his shirt FOREVER, to keep his heart beating. He could FLY (a novelty in Marvel's silver age pantheon), and had invented iron which was somehow solid from the outside, while flexible from the inside. OK, it was sheer hokum, but made him a more sympathetic character, at least to me. What has Tony become in today's Marvel Universe? An *sshole, egotistical armsdealer? These days, WHO DOESN'T own their own flying, metal suit? |
I can't agree there. Icons was vastly SUPERIOR because the figures had double jointed knees and elbows, ankle pivots, interchangeable hands, and sculpted on emblems.
Not to mention Green Arrow's bow did not have an arrow molded to it and it has an actual string attached to it (although a pretty shitty string that broke just by looking at it wrong). |
The smaller size miffed me...as did the seemingly brittle plastic...but YMMV.
|
Extremely disappointed that the Icons series never got around to the 3 Gotham City Sirens. Harley and the unreleased Catwoman looked great, and I can only imagine how amazing an Icons Poison Ivy would have been. :(
