Anyone see The New Mutants Trailer
Hopefully we shall see new Marvel Legends of them

Sorry if it's been discussed before but has there been any word on when the new Ghost Rider set is getting released? Don't suppose it'll be out in time for Christmas this year?

Hasbro's release date for both vehicle sets is currently Spring 2018.

Just watched it. Interesting set-up and definitely not what I was expecting. Really looking forward to it. I wouldn't say no to comic versions of Dani and Magik.

As much as I love the New Mutants, I'm not a horror movie kind of guy. Paranormal stuff freaks me out like crazy. I'll see the movie, but I am fully prepared to jump out of my seat a few times.
And hell yeah on the Comic accurate versions of the characters!

Nope. I saw a trailer that put New Mutants as its title, but what I saw was some generic horror movie with cheap jump scares trying to rip off It.

It didn't even feature the cast who was in Logan that left with hopes and dreams.

Last time I checked, New Mutants was about a bunch of joyful kids who did kid stuff with bright colors and had fun when they went out on adventures. Unless this movie takes place during Inferno, it makes no friggin sense.

Oh no, that looks horrible.

I would LOVE comic versions of New Mutants. Big fan of that comic since issue #1 well into X-Force.

Tomax 10-13-2017 08:34 AM

who are the characters in the new mutants movie? was that ghost rider in the dryer?
i think its a bad idea, mixing superhereos with horror unless its blade or ghost rider

warmachine6 10-13-2017 08:42 AM

Magik, Dani Moonstar , Cannonball ,wolfsbane and sunspot who i'm guessing was in the washing machine o.O

The storyline seems simple enough (from imdb.com) Five young mutants, just discovering their abilities while held in a secret facility against their will, fight to escape their past sins and save themselves.

Boy Blunder 10-13-2017 08:58 AM

...gosh, it's like so many of you guys didn't actually follow the New Mutants storylines. The "Demon Bear Saga," anyone? That's what this movie is doing a take on. Which is... you know, pretty early into the run (issues 18-20). And that shiz was trippy as hell. I mean, a supernatural horror suspense story drawn by Bill Sienkiewicz? I'd expect a movie to push the horror angle.

Not to mention the fact that the team has long had connections to the fantastical and horrific elements of the Marvel universe (Asgard, almost everything having to do with Illyana). Personally, I think it's great to see an attempt at supernatural horror in a superhero film. After all, taking on existing genres and tropes and giving them a superhero-y tweak is why the Marvel movies have been pretty consistently good (barring personal opinion, of course).

Thanks!
I also agree with what you had to say about the New Mutants, namely the Demon Bear stuff.

This pretty much sums up my opinion and take on it too, of course that's not to say others opinions are wrong, just different. But to me, does it feel different than your standard superhero/X-Men movie? Absolutely..but that doesn't mean it will be disappointing. To me the thing to remember is (if they were in real life) mutants are not just people who are fighting persecution while fighting villains; they are also fighting persecution while not fighting them as well, put them in any situation and they are still mutants. The standard genre of superhero movies has simply seemed the easiest way to highlight their powers, doesn't mean we can't go down different paths. Deadpool already halfhearted did that, I don't mean it was a halfhearted movie, it was half comedy and half standard superhero movie.

Looks very interesting, I take it that's X-23 strapped in the chair?

No, that's Wolfsbane I think. X-23 will probably not be appearing in any more future movies, given that Logan takes place in an alternate timeline.

Weapon X 10-15-2017 12:07 PM

I'm interested in this movie, but also nervous about it.

At the very least I just hope it fits into the main X-Men timeline rather than being alternate timeline like Logan.

Exodus 11-09-2020 06:47 PM

Bumping this thread now that the movie is officially out....

It actually does show clips of "Logan" in this and does tie to it as well....

For those that mentioned the "Horror" part, they may have toned it down? Not sure since this movie's released date kept getting pushed back so who knows if they edited it down some during these past years...

You're totally right, that's what this storyline was based on, even before my time of reading New Mutants, I think most people are used to the New Mutants that was the Liefeld version and the one after it.

This was actually a well made movie for what it was representing the New Mutants. Loved Illayana in this, they did an excellent job representing her, and they even showcased Lockheed!!! Everyone else did a pretty good job of representing the other mutants down to Cannonball's accent as well. It didn't have too much "Teen Angst" either in it. I would have enjoved this on the big screen if it was released on time...Too bad this is probably the last Mutant movie we'll get though, even though Marvel has the rights to the Mutants but who knows when they'll ever go down that path of revisiting them.

Was actually Dani...

MeLikeJinx 11-12-2020 03:25 AM

I liked it! Glad it was something different and not another rehash of X-men First Class (although that movie was pretty good). It reminded me of like... IDK... Buffy or something. And yah, Lockheed and Magik were the best part. Anya Taylor Joy's career rise is pretty impressive though. I watched her first movie which was like a Scandinavian production Viking movie and she wasn't that good in it. Wasn't too crazy about The Witch either. But then from like Split onward to Emma to that Chess show on Netflix she became this amazing actress all of sudden.

sh002 11-17-2020 11:03 PM

I just watched it and thought it was really good.

Weapon X 12-10-2020 08:40 PM

I thought this movie was alright. Nothing special. But better than Dark Phoenix easily. Just not a great note to end the X-Men franchise on.

ghostbogey 12-15-2020 03:36 AM

I get it...but
I don't get it...

One of those things, I guess =^)
