Restoring a Darth Vader jumpsuit
Hi,
I have a 12 inch Collectors Edition Darth Vader from Hasbro from 1996 with clothes (the one with the oversized rubber gloves and a GI Joe body). The figure is in a very good condition except for the material of the jumpsuit that is falling off. This is a very common problem for old figures with this kind of fabric imitating leather, metallic finish spacesuits (like the ones in 2001, an Space Odyssey), etc. The jumpsuit is made of fabric but with a layer of a rubber-like material that cripples and falls off when old. I don't know what material is this, maybe latex? When new, the jumpsuit looks just like the one Darth Vader wore in the movie, something like leather or the material the motorbike suits are made of. So, anybody knows how to cover the suit again with that leather-like finish layer? Liquid latex? silicon? some kind of paint? |
