Classic 84 Voltron by Playmates
These are awesome! The combined mode is way better executed then the New Netfelix series. Despite, not watching the original show, I stil want these, they have that great vitage toy robot look to them. I would be more then happy if Playmets will release smaller diecast version, I really hope they will!
Perfect timing. I just retired the Toynami Die Cast one. It's a nice piece, but flopped all over the place every time I bumped it. This can slide in behind some stuff and rep Voltron on the shelves.
I'm hoping they do a full on set of the Lions. I'd want that just for the box as I like the packaging. But this will be an easy pick up for me as well.
I know it's just a photoshopped pic in all likelihood but this looks exceptional if it even comes close
whoa sweet! i might pick these up and leave them carded. the packaging is sweet and reminiscent of the OG packaging

I managed to resist the Netflix one, might not be so lucky with this.
Is it me or did they just remake the soul of chogokin version?
what the fuck! are you serious? Thanks for posting this Joe, im a huge Voltron fan! i have my eye on the Ultimate voltron ex from Toynami but that cost like $300 or 400 bucks so thats why im stalling to get it but this is way afforable, its like $100.00 for the complete set and its 16" thats the perfect size i wanted, if it was bigger or smaller, i would NOT get it.
this is a definite buy from me, playmates is a good company, i have their TMNT and those are fantasic...voltron has to be past 12" inches. voltron is bigger than Transformers so this size is perfect. i dont like the new netflix version voltron, i prefer the oldschool version like this one...Playmates is doing with Voltron what Combiner wars is doing with tranformers. bringing back the fan favorites and making them affordable and identical to Toynami (voltron) & Masterpiece (transformrs) |
My only dilemma is do I display them as the Lions or as Voltron?

Holy elgonated torso and legs Batman! Am I the only one that notices his torso is way too long? Also, the red V-like chest armor should be almost touching his belt.

This is very much so a cheapened down SoC Voltron
i wonder if its 16" from top of head or the wing thingy?
Looking at it some more, I noticed where theres a recessed area above his belt where the sound comes out, perhaps the torso can slide down over that area..?
Also the red chest part ends in the same location as the vinyl Toynami SDCC figure, fwiw. |
Cool this might be affordable yay

Awwww man, I am so going to get this. Thing is does one of the lions come with the sword or no cause I don't see him with the sword.

The neck looks weird. Either the face is too small or the lower jaw is too big.
This is bought on principle!
And I want someone to make a high end Netflix Voltron. |
I have the matty collector version from a few years back. Its sadly too big to display and lives in my laundry room.
Tiny face is tiny. That torso is terrible. I'm gonna pass. Bandai did a great SOC set. I'm still hoping they do one for the Netlix version too.
