It's funny that to me these designs are essentially exactly what the Movie Realization line is, and then they make SH Figuarts out of them. I don't know what to make of them; I love all the MR stuff, so I'd constantly be thinking they'd be better suited in that line/size.

I think the only reason they're SHF instead of MR is because they're based on an actual Batman anime movie that's coming out; if not, they'd probably be in the MR line.

Maybe they'll do Movie Realization versions that are just normal Batman and Joker haha.

He looks nice! But I have way too many Batman figures now. One thing about this one is that they should fix the yelling face. That one looks a tad weird I think. Maybe will pick him up if he goes below $50 CAD :)

I like the design but the proportions look super wonky to me. Might be accurate to the animation model but still.

RolandofGilead 01-24-2018 09:25 AM

Nice!

A special page and the individual item pages are up!

Joker, "Devil King of the 6th Heaven" is a July 2018 release, also for 6480¥.

This version of Joker comes with an alternate, open smile head, 4 additional sets of hands, a saber with a fitting scabbard and 2 fan weapons. The Joker samurai warriors displayed with him are not included, they may be a separate set they release in the future.

Thanks for the heads up. I think these look great outside of the plastic cape for Batman.

Cyclopswc 01-30-2018 06:56 AM

I know the Japanese made this movie, but isn't that Batman more of a Ronin than a Ninja? My understanding has always been Ronins are "Samurais without a master" and Ninjas are "assassins in pajamas". That Batman is armored up like a Samurai.

Oh well, maybe "Ninja" just sounds cooler.

Segmented plastic cape... Why? I was so excited until that part. It's such a terrible design on pretty everything it is a part of. Isn't one more company making Batman Ninja figures to? I will probably hold out for that Batman instead.

Good Smile Company will be making a Figma for this Batman. Not sure about a Joker though?

You're welcome, and I agree, plastic capes are quite troublesome, especially on highly articulated figures like these.

But at least it's segmented and you can take it off... I've had worse from Tamashii.

Yeah, he looks way more like a Samurai than a Ninja to me as well. However, Batman as a character operates more like a Ninja than a Samurai, at least I think so. With his stealthy missions, detective work, the smoke bomb pellets as well as his famous disappearance within seconds.

They probably just couldn't make a Ninja design work and choose to go all-out instead.

Also, looking at the trailer, his appearance changes between scenes. The design represented as a figure here appears throughout the trailer, but the one which I assume takes place at the climax of it is even more armored with a Kabuto-like helmet and stuff.

So this might actually be the most Ninja-like costume he gets in the movie ;)

It's probably because it's such a heavily stylized design. I don't think they could properly recreate it with cloth pieces.

I would've preferred to see them try, or at least offer a basic cloth cape that you can swap with the plastic one, but it doesn't seem like it will happen.

Good Smile Company (the figma guys) are making one too but it doesn't look accurate to a particular design from the movie to me, and it also has a plastic cape.

You guys don't think Batman's hands are a bit too big?

(Particularly looking at image 004)

Anyone have any photos of the back of the Joker figure? I took photos at NYCC but didn't take anything but similar photos to what were posted here

Probably done on purpose to look better from a distance. A big problem with 6" figures is, when displayed, their hands just look like little blobs, and since they're usually on shelves or out of the way, it's better to have bigger, more expressive hands. It also helped with A. not losing them since they're interchangeable, and B. making hands more visible for drawing references.
