Toys photodegradation
Hi. I have some transparent showcases with multiple toys on the same room i have a large aquarium. The blue lights of it gets to all the room. Can it cause photodegradation of the toys colours?
Thank you very much |
Is it a UV light? Any ultra violet light will cause plastic to photo degrade over time. Indirect exposure however, would be minimal, I’d say the equivalent of haveing a window in the room. Any UV will cause deterioration over time, but minimal exposure will take a long time, like decades to affect the plastic, however it may cause yellowing of white paint and fading of bright colors fairly rapidly, and anything you have in package could have yellowing of the bubble or clear box window if exposed for too long.

If the lights are LED the UV emission should be almost nil. So it should be no problem over time.

So if you are the least bit concerned, you can buy Philips brand LED lights at all major aquarium stores, and switch your tank lights. |
