Captain Kirk with torn shirt
1 Attachment(s)
It's so iconic but there are only three times in the original Star Trek series where Kirk's shirt gets torn.
The only regret I have is that I used a regular Kirk figure and not one of those where they painted him a bloody face. Would have made it more authentic. https://s26.postimg.cc/rc7dbhazd/Kirk01.jpg https://s26.postimg.cc/guhbfqa55/Kirk02.jpg The rubber shirt was easily cut away. I had expected it being hanging by itself, but it is too thick. So on to plan B. https://s26.postimg.cc/r0pwypujd/Kirk04.jpg https://s26.postimg.cc/sibda9za1/Kirk05.jpg This yellow cloth is 26 years old. In May 1989 I was chosen (together with some more kids from our school) to go to Berlin, for a three days celebration called Pfingsttreffen. Basically a meeting of young people from all over Eastern Germany, with fun and music and concerts and all kind of nice stuff. It was great fun but we had to pay for it by taking part in a demonstration, as this was also a political meeting after all. We were given those clothes (I also have a blue, red and white one) for waving while marching. I've kept it all these years, thinking one day I may have need for it. And now the time has come! https://s26.postimg.cc/tae19h3h5/Kirk06.jpg Forming the chest and I also had to smooth away a few of the creases on the shoulder, which are from the shirt but I wanted a naked shoulder. I filled the rest up with Milliput. https://s26.postimg.cc/5fkub3xsp/Kirk07.jpg https://s26.postimg.cc/aw3i5hr6h/Kirk08.jpg Again it was too stiff to hang naturally. So I had to glue it down. https://s26.postimg.cc/61eekyi8p/Kirk10.jpg https://s26.postimg.cc/mqfugveu1/Kirk11.jpg https://s26.postimg.cc/vmqmkt5g9/Kirk12.jpg |
That is, without a doubt, the best action figure nipple ever crafted. Your vision as an artist will inspire for generations.
It's funny, even if you'd have posted this a month ago, I probably could have guessed whose post it was based on the title. That is extraordinarily good paint work, especially on the face. And it needed the work, so top marks there. Clever use of the fabric, too. |
that's really weird, but really well executed.
