I've always been a Black Manta fan - honestly, more of the campy design than anything else - but I absolutely LOVE his design in the movie. It's seriously awesome and the best he's ever looked. The additional armor, the jetpack, the updated helmet that still perfectly reflects his comic book counterpart, etc.

If I had to complain about anything, I'd say I'm slightly bummed he doesn't have his trademark air hoses sticking out of his helmet, but that would be super nit-picking. He's just super bad-ass. Even the upcoming Mattel figure looks great, and I can't wait to pick it up.

So is this just a classic variant like those Justice League figures that gave Superman and Batman trunks, or will Momoa wear the classic suit in the movie?

Manta looks cool, but AquaBro grates on my nerves. If they do a classic version of this sculpture with Aquaman resembling the character as he was drawn by the likes of Jim Aparo, I would jump on it. I love those old stories.

Nope, pretty much all Aquaman merch (including the Hot Toys figure) has him wearing this costume, and the main promo image for the film used on things like the LEGO box are a pic of him in this costume, so he's legit gonna wear this classic costume.

Does Black Manta have special boots that let him walk on water?
