I'm not sure which is more badass, that KKvsG packaging or to learn that Godzilla includes a breath effect piece.

It already puts that $100, poorly painted, lipstick wearing MonsterArt to shame.

I'm really digging the packaging as well. Randy hinted they may go back and reissue older Godzilla figure in unique packaging now that they aren't bound by Bandai's style guide.

I need to call it for tonight. Will update tomorrow night if they drop more teasers.

If only they would release a Kong figure, too.

If only. But they can't...can they?

I don't know if Toho can actually license King Kong, even their specific version depicted in the movie. If I remember correctly the movie itself credits RKO for the rights on Kong. But the licensing history of King Kong is such a convoluted topic on its own.

Logic would dictate that with the shared monster-verse and Legendary having both Godzilla and King Kong (and planning a movie featuring them together) Toho could allow NECA to make a 62 Kong, since NECA also deals with Legendary.

Honestly, it sounds so easy: "They can make Godzilla from the movie so why not Kong?" but who knows how difficult it really is.

And I personally will still not believe that NECA makes anything other than Legendary monsters until I've seen an actual Showa or Heisei Kaiju that isn’t Godzilla himself.

I feel like Toy Fair in February might give us some answers. I do love this new packaging, and it is a sign that they are about to change things. The figure itself looks solid too but without a Kong to go with it I feel no desire to buy it. If they do unveil a Toho King Kong at Toy Fair then both are bought.

If Bandai announces a Kong for MonsterArts, we will most definitely see one from NECA.

Randy has already stated they now work with Toho directly instead of going through WB who would go through Toho. He said they have access to everything including Toho's library of artwork.

My point still stands.

We certainly can. I rewatched the movie today because why not and I'd love to get a Toho Kong, whoever decides to do one. Giant flying electro ape ftw.

Man that box is amazing; I'll have to put it on display behind him and really excited for the atomic breath!

I'd love a Toho Kong. Give him swappable hands with electric fingertips, berry juice jars, and multiple heads (neutral, roaring and drunk). Maybe a rubber octopus with bendy tentacles, too.

Hopefully, we can get Robot Kong, the Gargantuas, and Frankenstein some day.

I'm in love with that packaging for the 62 Godzilla.
And now that NECA products are sold at Target, and Target actually RESTOCKS I look forward to seeing it on store shelves.
