DC Multiverse Penguin and Joker

The Dark Knight Joker and Batman Returns Penguin DC Multiverse Figures

So, they just decided not to mess with DeVito's likeness?

Augustus_Cole 02-04-2019 07:04 AM

these look pretty cool...
smh @ the fact that ....once they really got their stride...the fuggin line ends..
this REALLLLY had potential..!!

dukefett 02-04-2019 10:13 AM

Don't look bad at all, but the BBTS link says they're in the 6.5" scale? Why would they do that? So they don't mix in with anything else?

You can see some photos from SDCC with Penguin and Joker next to the other film/TV figures. They all look to be the same-ish scale: https://news.toyark.com/2018/07/20/s...figures-310617

Ugh. I wasn't prepared for these to be insta-buys but from the image they look damn good. Too bad, I'd have liked to see this line flourish into a proper DC MLs competitor. Never would have expected I'd want another Ledger Joker or ever really need a DeVito Penguin, but a good figure is a good figure.

Chili 02-04-2019 02:57 PM

And yet another DC action figure line doomed for failure.

redfox 02-04-2019 09:25 PM

No disrespect for Ledger's Joker, but I really wish we could have gotten a Pfeiffer Catwoman. She's been a long-time 6in. figure "WANT" of mine.

Bo Ttef 02-05-2019 03:01 PM

Like Legends and Black Series I just don't dig companies calling their different scaled lines the same thing... Would have been cool to have these TV/Movie figures in standard 6in scale instead of this weird 6.25 scale...

Joker looks like an okay alternative if you didn't get the NECA or Mafex, but Penguin is looking awesome! If you slapped a grimy paint wash on him it'd be near perfect!

dukefett 06-04-2019 02:46 PM

Yeah that Penguin doesn't look that bad, may pick him up!

Small correction, but I know you meant Batman Returns Penguin!

ShabbyBlue 06-04-2019 03:07 PM

Ledger Joker is such a wasted slot for this line considering there won't be a 3rd wave. Mattel already did a Ledger Joker themselves a few years ago, and then we have the Mafex version too. So why did we need yet another Ledger Joker figure??

As others have said above, Pfeiffer Catwoman would have been the much better choice for this wave to compliment the Devito Penguin. It's just a shame we'll never get more of this great Signature line. Before it was announced that Mattel was losing the license, I had high hopes for future Signature waves to include Terrance Stamp's General Zod, or Helen Slater Supergirl, or Gene Hackman Lex Luthor. I guess we'll probably never get any of those characters in this scale from ANY company. :(

Yep, thanks. Fixed.

Not a big fan of these. I know they aren’t expensive, but they could have looked better. I wish we got shrunken down versions of the 1/4 scale NECA Pfeiffer Catwoman and DeVito Penguin instead of these. These just look second rate, or like they made them years ago. Likeness on Ledger is mediocre as always and the Penguin is poorly painted. That’s a character you can get crazy with shadows and highlights and we get none of that. I will say that the articulation on Penguin is good, and he’s a good placeholder. Mattel made a decent Joker head sculpt years ago for a 12” figure (photo attached) they may as well reused that.

Skoob 06-04-2019 05:59 PM

I suppose they could be better, but you can say that about a lot of things.

I'm pleasantly surprised by both of these, and want them to go with my Keating Batman.

Newton Gimmick 06-04-2019 06:09 PM

Penguin's face looks good and the sculpting overall is solid, but his body is weird. He's huge and disproportionate. And not in the way Devito was. Shame too cause otherwise it's solid.

Lance Quazar 06-04-2019 10:56 PM

This makes me so mad that they never made the Ledger Joker for the 4" line.

That figure alone would have been a bit enough hit to float the line another year.

Instead, we got that awful video game Joker. UGH.

AndyTrevino 06-16-2019 07:09 PM

Joker looks great IMO. I've never been a huge Penguin fan, so I'll probably pass on him, even if this version was played by the all-powerful Danny Devito. It would've been nice to get other Nolanverse characters, like Two-Face or Scarecrow. Maybe a Jack Nicholson Joker or even a Suicide Squad Joker in the black tux would've been great as well (I'm in the minority who thought his portrayal was decent enough).
