Rumor - Hasbro Star Wars HyperReal Line

Star Wars The Black Series "HyperReal" Figures - Rumor

OriginalFire 02-06-2019 07:15 AM

Didn't they try to do this with Marvel Legends with the 1/6 scale and I have it heard of any new figures being released. I was hoping for a 90s X-Men team. I hope this does well and they learned some lessons from the Marvel stuff

deecee4 02-06-2019 07:41 AM

If Vader is going to 11 inches then these are going to be like 1/10 ? And at $80, I guess this could be Hasbro's version of what Mezco has been doing. Id be kind of interested in these-depending on what they look like.

VashTS 02-06-2019 07:44 AM

I am guessing this is the Star Wars Premium Elite line that was a Disney Store Exclusive, except with a higher price point.

That's my guess because the scale seems to match. I am game as I am tired of the Black series underwhelming figures. High quality face sculpts that's essentially 1/6th scale...sounds appealing if true. I also assume, the new Disney movie figures do not sell, so they will bring back their old school real cloth figure line.

I really cannot see Hasbro keeping the license beyond 2020...so very curious about this rumor..

Bigger than 1/10 for sure, as that's too tall to fit in with a 7" scale line. This is closer to like 1/7 scale.

I agree.....Hasbro said almost a year ago, that the line isn't dead...but then again, it's been more than a year since it's last release.

Although Technically the re-release Sentinel was just that, I too was hoping for that line to continue.

Star wars COULD be that 1/6 scale, but I am thinking it's using real cloth, in that 1/6 scale....or close to it....like the Premium Elite line a couple years ago.

Definitely wouldn't be those, not at $80. The Premium Elite were only like $35 and that line bombed hard outside of Vader.

So I guess around the same height as Koto's Artfx statues then.

The $80 price tag makes me think they're going to have stuff like wire capes, LEDs and a robust selection of swap out parts. Hope so anyway.

Agreed, for $80, it has to be packed, and any humans have to have super spot on faces, or people are just going to ignore it.

Well, I did see some major discontent in some other hardcore collectors groups for black series. Most are pissed about the scale with arguments as "I won't be swtiching scale", "too expensive to keep an up to date collection" or "what will happen with the existing black series ones?"
But in general, they won't be buying at this point.
I, on the personal side, am not interested due to the big size. Is this what, like marvel select scale?

Trivial Psychic 02-06-2019 08:57 AM

My issue is...if they are trying to make a run at higher end figures like Mezco,Mafex, or Figuarts, they are gonna have to dumb down what they are doing already because many of the newer figures already hold up to the foreign competition, except at a better price point.

This has to be a different scale. Only reason I can think of the drastic price increase. Either way, at that price, I'm already priced out of the game, and I'm sure I'm not the only one, so good luck Hasbro, I don't see this taking off.

Tomax 02-06-2019 09:09 AM

scale is important to me so a 10" vader is a No from me

SideNote:: 10" scale should be for transformers and the biggest scale in my collection is Voltron but thats just me.

Anyone complaining and getting upset about this is being absurd. Hasbro is always experimenting and rolling out new product lines. It doesn’t mean the end of their normal Black Series, any more than it did when they tried out those Black Series Centerpiece diorama figures last year. Whatever this is, it will probably fizzle out after a few series, like dozens of other Star Wars sublines before it. I am interested to see what these figures end up being, but I most likely will end up passing,, like I have for dozens of other Star Wars sublines before.

dukefett 02-06-2019 09:32 AM

Yeah if it's not 1/12 or 1/6 (which is appears to not be because of the box dimensions) then I'm out.

I can't start another scale of collecting for Star Wars. I do both 1/12 and 1/6 and that's kind of too much already. The Vader would have to be PERFECT for me to think about it.

If they were doing Mezco style SW figures in 1/12 scale then I'd probably be all over it.

jpizzow 02-06-2019 09:44 AM

This sounds like their answer to mass retail Hot Toys-esque figures. I think there is a pretty big market for something like this. They are trying to fill that void in the market of collectors who want Hot Toys, but cannot afford them, which is a lot of collectors. I would love to collect Hot Toys, but the $225-275 price point is just out of my range considering how many of them I would want to buy. At just an inch shorter than a Hot Toy Vader, but with "Hyperreal" design (whatever that may be) and at 1/3 of the price, I'm in. On top of that, since it's mass retail, it will be pretty easy to pick these up on sale or clearance for $40-60. When's the last time you saw a Hot Toy on clearance?

Tony_Bacala 02-06-2019 10:01 AM

Doesn't matter how good or high end these are, or what exact scale they are - they don't fit. So, I'll pick up one here or there for super epic core characters, but that's it. Vader, OT Storm Trooper. Helmet guys. If the human faces are legit, and it's not smothered in shitty soft goods, then maybe a core instance of Luke or Han to match. But I'd be out after that.

I'm open to be proven wrong, but even if they were baby Hot Toys for 80 bucks, I wouldn't be in deep roster.

Batsugun 02-06-2019 10:49 AM

One of my most favorite lines to collect was the collectors series 12” inch Star Wars. I loved going on the hunt for those. I was hoping they would bring that line back someday. I still have them. They were only $20. I do collect the black series now, only the OTC figures. I don’t see my self paying $70 for figures.

What scale is this? Why did Hasbro think someone wanted this?

Two words.... cash grab.

BIGGUY007 02-06-2019 11:01 PM

I got a great Darth Vader figure from The Disney Store a few years back for about $35-45 that I'm pretty happy with. I will have to see it in person before I buy ANOTHER Darth Vader figure.
