McFarlane Walking Dead Toy Line Ending?

No Walking Dead Figures from McFarlane in 2019

who was even buying these since they switched to 7 in. i can't say I ever see collectors posting pics of them.
i for one quit the line when they switched.
i had probably 95% of the 5" line.

That may be one of the reasons they ended the line. No one was buying them. They never truly switched them over to the better articulation they're using now. I don't suspect that many companies will be jumping to pick up the license if they let it go.

and they didn't make any gawt damn ZOMBIES!!!!!!!
wtf...DUH

Sadly true, the iron is no longer white hot with this franchise, I mean you have diehard fans but I think the staleness of the comics story line and the last shows last season lackluster hurt them. This current season has turned it around but probably not soon enough for another company to keep the figures going.

Yeah, the last few waves of McFarlane Walking Dead figures were peg-warming like mad everywhere. No one gave a shit.

Twd

I always enjoyed the 5-inch line, and I'd be thrilled now if they came out with an Ezekiel/Shiva set, or others characters like Tara, Simon, or even Lori. Problem is, MacFarlane got greedy by trying to reignite collector interest with a 7-inch line when they already had a group of 5-inch scale collectors who didn't feel like starting all over again with the same characters. Trying to fit a 7-inch square peg into a 5-inch round hole I guess (no phallic humor intended).

The thing with the 5" line was that Todd hated that scale with a passion. Once they lost Halo, they lost their biggest incentive to keep the scale alive. He hated the look of them with the exposed joints and articulation cuts and just wanted his old style back. He got his way with Color Tops and it blew up in his face and he slowly relented to allow articulation to be added back into the 7" line. It was too late for a lot of those licenses that bombed though (Gears of War, Mass Effect, Walking Dead).

I'm actually pretty bummed. I have all the 7" and the 10" figures. While I don't like the show nearly as much as I used to, I can't help but still want some core characters that we never got.

Krydion 02-07-2019 12:09 PM

Interesting, Joe. I had no idea he despised that 5 inch scale. It was nice have some smaller figures to display on a shelf, rather than having all larger scale figures.......

Mcfarlane is a joke...can't he see all his toy lines are failing. He has pretty much lost all good licenses he's ever had.
