Space Invaders Figma
|
He looks like the Energy monster from the intro to Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends
|
The character you mention is named Video-Man. Same sort of concept (8bit game come to life), but Video-Man was 2d (flat, like a drawing) and didn’t look much like this at all.
He actually looks like ZZAX (Xemnu also, but far less). What a shame that Hasbro was unintentionally beaten to the punch on a fig they should have had the foresight to make years ago. Some production exec will see this and have an epiphany and claim independent inspiration, especially if the Space Invader ends up being translucent. I’ve called for a translucent BAF of ZZAX for years, looks like I may have to settle for the next best… |

Edit: maybe video man is in the intro too, so never mind then lol |

This is really interesting. I like the concept a lot since the art work on old games was so interesting compared to the actual graphics.
It'll probably come down to price. Figma stuff usually runs pretty expensive. The R-Type set (although a lot more complicated) was over $100 I think. |
Damn! I want this. I want at least 2x this! But, of course, it will all come down to $$$

This is...unexpected.
Whenever I saw this character on the side of a Space Invaders cab back in the day I always thought he looked electrical for some reason, not...furry. But that's just me. This figure looks more like that big red monster with the sneakers in the Looney Tunes cartoons. http://www.toyark.com/attachments/52...7237f4ccb3.jpg |
I think it all depends on how they paint it. With the right color scheme, it would look less like fur and more fire-esque.

Gossamer...

hopefully they do a Qbert figure even thou i already have one but its a vinyl
SideNote:: on the topic of Looney tunes monsters, i sold a Monster tweety figure like 5 months back |
Gossamer and the Chicken Heart also look pretty similar...seeing as how this has been an exercise in the recall of all things that look sort of like the ‘Space Invader.’

Hmmmmmmmm, that could make for a good creature to have face off against Samus.
|
Zemu the Titan?
|
Xemnu the Titan...I mentioned it earlier.
|
Really digging this. Hope it scales well to their Gridman material.
Goodsmile has really been knocking stuff out of the park lately. Love their desktop army combination systems too. |

Just did a quick Photoshop based on what an arcade cabinet paintjob might look like:

Heh heh...I actually think you're right! |
From Gossamer to Xemnu or Zzyax(my bad if I botched that). This figure would be cool for any character including the crytid known as MOMO. lol
|
Okay, so who do I pester at Figma (Goodsmile) to get updates on this guy? I hope they haven't run into any trouble... :Ghost
