I'm kinda sad that Cap seemingly dumped that girl from Everwood, the one that was his neighbor in Winter Soldier to go back and be with Peggy. Now that I think about it... Chris Pratt was on Everwood too.

Also... I would have used the time stone to just delay time until Captain Marvel got there and just let her beat up everyone... I skipped the Captain Marvel movie, so I had no idea how overpowered she is compared to everyone else.

You do realize that Sharon Carter (Cap's neighbor from Winter Soldier), was the grand daughter or niece or some kind of relative of Peggy Carter right? lol. He did end up having a thing for her but that was after how long of him being "stuck" in the past thinking about how much he missed Peggy?

I liked how they ended caps storyline. He got the happy ending he deserved and got to live out life with the woman he truly loved for so long.

*******

What I didn't like tho, was that Cap gave the shield to Falcon. Yea I get that in the comics Falcon eventually becomes cap as well, but give it to BUCKY! He's your damn best friend and that part of the comics where Bucky takes up the shield long before Falcon, after Cap dies (at the hands of Sharon Carter no less!), is how it should be. Bucky would have been a way cooler Cap. Plus I liked his comics costume alot so if they could transition that to screen somehow that would be awesome.

And I'm glad this thread exists! I've needed to vent for a long time now since I saw this Thursday night lol. Looking forward to hearing everyone elses impressions.

Can we talk about Hulk tho. I think the directors truly missed an opportunity to have him seek some redemption against Thanos. I mean in Infinity War he thoroughly got his butt whooped by Thanos, so bad that after that Hulk didn't want to come out of Banner the rest of the movie! I thought for sure with Hulk/Banner in control now as Professor Hulk, they would have thrown some sort of scene together in the final fight scene where Hulk gets his redemption and puts a whooping back on Thanos. But it never happened. That was kind of a let down.

MeLikeJinx 05-02-2019 07:08 AM

^ Hulk at least got to use the Infinity Gauntlet and still lived and he used the full power of the Gauntlet too probably to bring everyone back. Tony Stark only used it to vaporize a few hundred bad guys not half the entire universe and it killed him.

Cap and Bucky's friendship is my fav thing in the entire MCU... that I am with you until the end of the line thing is so cheesy, but I love it. Even so... Bucky has too much baggage to be the new MCU Cap IMO... I mean his shoulder used to have the Russia star on it before. LOL.

I was also pretty impressed with Thanos with no stones... he took on both Iron Man, Cap and two hammer Thor with no problem really and also straight up beat powered up Thor Cap. Btw Cap picking up the hammer was so awesome. When Thanos beat up Hulk before I think he already had one stone, so he was already slightly powered up I think.

Robb 05-02-2019 08:48 AM

I was also a little let down that Hulk did not get to HULK out on Thanos. I wish they would have given the shield to Bucky as well, not that i have anything against Falcon who is one of my favorite character. I got pumped up when Cap was about to take on the whole army and then you hear Sam in his earpiece. That was a great moment when everyone showed up.

MarvelGuy85 05-02-2019 09:19 AM

I understand about Bucky having "baggage", but that's the whole thing about him wearing the suit, is that no one knows it was him. There just always had to be a cap, so Bucky took on the role after Steve died. I'm fine with Sam and I'm sure he will be a cool cap.

I still am having a hard time figuring out the whole Steve staying in the past thing. From what I have read since seeing the movie, the directors have said themselves that the timeline Steve went back to to stay with Peggy was NOT the same timeline that he originally met Peggy in (aka first avenger captain america movie). They said it was an alternate timeline and that if he stayed in the original one, it would have messed up all the events (aka all the other mcu movies) after that.

So somehow Cap went back to a different timeline, stayed with Peggy and lived a good life, but then somehow managed to come back to the original timeline to meet Sam at the end of endgame? Urrrrm What? How would he know when exactly, and how did he time travel again without the stones?

Plus, if Cap is now living in the past, why wouldn't he have gave some kind of warning before 2012 and the Invasion of Loki in the first Avengers film, or stopped the Avengers from creating Ultron? He just sat back, enjoyed his new life, and let everyone else rot lol.

Liked it better after the second viewing- hated fat Thor the first time around but it didn't bother me at all the second... Hated the over-use of nano-tech and the "hammer-to-the-head" Grrl Power moment (...and here I didn't think they could stoop lower than the capt marvel "I'm just a girl" fight) instead of patronizing they could have just given each of those characters a quick moment to shine that made sense to the battle going on, but whatevah- it was thankfully brief.Didn't care that the writing balks at the fact that the infinity gauntlet essentially makes you GOD and putting limitations on it just doesn't make sense outside of needing to kill off characters done with their contracts. Loved Hawkeye and was nice to see him get some time in the role. Not too crazy about "Smart" Hulk but maybe if we ever get that Hulk movie we'll see banner and hulk get separated as a plot point... I actually liked Capt.Marvel in EndGame and am looking forward to seeing her again, but they have to do something about her power level or it's just going to be Superman without the weakness, continually having her swoop in at the end and just completely OP everything in her way is going to get old fast. First viewing I definitely put it in my bottom 3 MCU with AntMan/Wasp, Cap.Marvel and AoU- Second viewing and I think it makes the top5 with WinterSoldier, Avengers, Dr.Strange, GotG, and IM...

BagJo 05-02-2019 11:57 AM

I didn't love it, I didn't hate. For the climax of such a huge "event" it was kind of a let down.

Like many I wish Hulk had gotten a revenge battle with Thanos. I really hated how they cucked Thor so badly, but they did it to Hulk in Infinity War so I guess it was Thor's turn. Why have Thor cut his hair and beard only to load him down with fake hair in the next movie? I'm not the biggest fan of time travel in the first place, but they could have at LEAST made some rules about it. On one hand Antman's daughter goes from like a 7 year old to a 20-something, but then Pete's best buddy hasn't aged a day? How are they in the same grade by Far From Home? Did everyone in Pete's school vanish and return? That wouldn't make much sense. Even if Pete vanished and his friends didn't, and SOMEHOW Pete got to advance 5 years in his schooling, he'd still be 5 years younger than his friends, which would make dating MJ a lil weird.
Also, in general I just felt Infinity War was more exciting and had a better flow.

Having said all that, there were some funny jokes, the action was solid even if it was pretty much all saved until the end. Loved that Cap was kind of the main character since he was in Infinity War so little, also glad he had his shield back and I really liked his suit. I'm a massive Hulk fan, and getting Smart Hulk in a movie was pretty incredible, I'd love to see a figure released of him with the glasses and gray sweater. I also think this was one of the better movies that heavily featured Iron Man (not a big fan), his "I'm Iron Man" moment was pretty awesome, even if it felt like more of a "I'm Batman" moment.

I'll be very curious to see where they go in the next phase. Without a big bad like Thanos to build up to, I wonder what the "driving force" will be.

They certainly have a lot of options there...people have been reading into the mention of earthquakes under the ocean as being Namor and Atlantis-related. And of course now Doom and Galactus are going to be intergrated into the MCU eventually. Plus now that they have the concept of time travel and alternate realities that could leave an opening for an epic Kang the Conquer storyline or even something X-Men related. I'm really excited to see how they're going to follow up.

Bo Ttef 05-03-2019 08:42 AM

yeah the "earthquake under the ocean" near Wakanda and rumors of Namor to be featured in the "zinger" of Dr.Strange 2... I could see BP2 being a "Vs. Namor" thing after the recent comic events.

Yeah.....his whole time travel crap was kinda dumb. They just forgot about Sharon, after working so hard to set them up. It's unlike the Russos to do that, seems more like something Whedon would be guilty of.

For me the MCU movies ranked from best to worst...

Winter Soldier
Ragnarok
The First Avenger
Thor
Civil War
Iron Man 2
The Avengers
Ant-Man
Infinity War
Iron Man
Dr. Strange
Endgame
The Incredible Hulk
Age of Ultron
The Dark World
Iron Man 3
Guardians of the Galaxy
Ant-Man and the Wasp
Black Panther
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Spider-man Homecoming

Didn't watch Captain Marvel yet.

MarvelGuy85 05-05-2019 08:38 AM

Endgame was better imo the 2nd viewing. Knowing what was gonna happen and just being able to sit back and enjoy the ride was awesome. Things made more sense as well.

The directors also said in recent interviews that spidey and his friend, along with others, all vanished in the snap. They dont age within the snap. So when they come back, thats the reason Peter is still in high school. They said that yes the people who didnt vanish would be 5 years older, and not in high school anymore, and that would lead to different situations in storylines in Peter’s movies.

As far as future badies, a proper galactus, silver surfer arriving would be a cool movie for the heroes to team up. Namor in a black panther movie would be cool.

I also read a theory where the gamma energy that thanos gauntlet gave off with the snap could be a way to ise that energy to introduce mutants and x-men. That could be a cool buildup to an x-men vs avengers movie. Except that might play off like Cap Civil War which they already did.

They could have Adam Warlock and the Magus show up, but if they don’t go with the gems and the gauntlet, idk what the story would be about, and if they re-hash the gens, gauntlet i feel like that would be a waste of potential stories.

I’m not sure any new storyline could encompass 22 movies. Thats a huge accomplishment. I’m not sure that should be the new standard. I think with the secret invasion storyline, that could be a major crossover between 5-6 movies, cause literally anyone could be a skrull and that would affect so many aspects of different characters.

Im going to post my Endgame review here so i wont give spoilers on the other movie thread. Ok so it was good but it wasnt excellent. in my opinion i think Infinity War was better. the things that i didnt like was that they soften up thor and hulk, that bothered me alot. the first half of the movie had alot of build up but it wasnt really necessary since we already had infinity war. the things that i did like was the time machine part of the movie, i think that was very kool. always been a sucker for time travel. I especially liked when thor and stark met their parents in the past, that made me tear up alittle. the other time that i teared up was not when stark dies but when potts said: "we are going to be alright". the fight scene was epic and kool. Overall the movie was good and surprisingly sad as well. even the ending with the cap staying behind to be with his girl was sad for some reason.

romanrein 05-07-2019 02:10 AM

i have already watched it and can say that it was interesting. I do not think that Iron man will be dead.

^ Yah, I just don't like Spiderman as a character though that's why probably... I didn't even watch the Amazing Spiderman movies... Into the Spider-verse was absolutely amazing however. I don't really like Ironman as a character either, so I don't like the IM movies probably as much as I should... I do like War Machine though.

uchikuri 05-10-2019 10:27 AM

who is captain marvell?

Harbinger 05-10-2019 02:35 PM

I hope they introduce ironmans brother from the comics....or his nephew as the new ironman. And for the love of God please introduce a proper silver centurion armor. I mean if we can get that classic ironman armor homage we need a better silver centurion armor. Keep his daughter as rescue and nephew as ironman,
