WWE Elite question?

Why hasn’t Mattel done a Hollywood Hogan figure?

I'm pretty sure much of it has to do with Hogan's leaked sex tape, in which he was caught using some pretty racist language when he was talking to the woman on the tape about the topic of his daughter dating people of color. Upon the tape's discovery, the WWE quickly fired him from his position in the company and removed him from their Hall of Fame and from their website.

Hogan had already received a few Elite Figure treatments at that time, with a Hollywood Hogan rumored to be in the works when this all came about. Much like the Chris Benoit scandal before him, existing unsold figures were ordered by WWE and Mattel to either be sent back from retailers or clearanced out, and all future figures featuring Hogan were cancelled.

It was during that exile period that Hogan (who I believe owns the rights to his name, likeness and character) licensed out himself out to Storm Collectibles, who has since produced several Hollywood Hogan figures and statues in all sorts of scale since, and will soon be releasing a series of classic "Hulk Rules" and "American Made" designs in the near future.

I don't know how long Storm has the license, but given that Hogan owns most if not all of the creative licenses to it, I highly doubt we'll be seeing any more Mattel Elites of Hulk unless Hogan himself permits it, which...why would he? Storm makes really good stuff, and I can imagine that while he might not be receiving Mattel money from it, it's probably a pretty sweet deal that gives him a lot of bargaining power and creative input.

I figured that was part of it. With Vince warming up to having him back on TV, maybe we will get one down the road. I’ll have to check out the Storm Collectibles versions. Thanks!

There have been several, and many of them have been offered as exclusives to Ringside Collectibles. They also have pics as well bundles an individuals up for pre-order for the upcoming "Hulk Rules" series.
