McFarlane Mortal Kombat Variants
Scorpions eyes are nuts. Whats going on with that. Looks like he just rolled one up lol.
I guess I blame the game designers, but these are... terrible looking.
These look WORSE than the regular ones. wow. The 90's Hasbro GI Joe/MK cross over figures look epic compared to these. lol
Is Scorpion taking a dump?
I know it's an apples and oranges comparison, but Storm's MK figures takes a "smoldering" dump all over these. The overly busy designs (which are some of MK's worse IMO) aren't helping things either. Sometimes less is more...
I don't really like all the color variations in the game and I definitely don't want figures of them.
I will never get tired of seeing McFarlane's comical misunderstanding of Scorpion's eyebrow anatomy.
Dear lord that scorpion looks utterly turrble. So far mcfartlame isn't cuttin’ the mustard. The cheese certainly.....
So every figure of Scorpion from McFarlane is going to looked stoned then? Seems like a weird artistic choice to me, but hey, at least he's consistent.

All McFarlane needs to do is fix the eyebrow positioning. Wouldnt even need to mess with the sculpt. If they dont fix the paint job and provided the skin tone is molded plastic then it will be a matter of using some nail polish remover to wipe them off and repainting them. Changing the angle and moving them lower makes it looks less surpised/stoned. Other than the costumes which are as designed by Netherrealm they're actually not that bad besides the shitty eyebrows.

These are awful! Especially Scorpion! So glad I collect the Storm line.
Also, this is definitely not the fault of the game designs. The game is way better looking! |
Everyone thinking that the comparison between these and the Storm versions seems to be living in a haze.
$20 figure quality does NOT equal $70-$80 figure quality. |

If you'd like to get technical about it though, Mezco's figures for MKX were also in the $20 dollar range, and in terms of looks, those figures take a steamy dump on these as well. While we haven't seen a side by side comparison just yet, the Mezco figures were done so well that there were times I felt like I was holding something of much higher quality than a mere $20 dollar toy. The only gripes I ever had about that line was the extremely thin character selection that was filled mostly with a hundred variants of each figure, and the fact they were not a true 6 inch scale like they claimed to be. I think a large part of this though is honestly no fault of Todd's, but more to the terrible looking character designs that NRS made for this game. They're some of the worst designs since MK4. It's hard to keep joints and paints looking clean when you have all that mess of a sculpt going on. If McFarlane toys was doing something more classic, (or less busy in design) I really feel like the line could shine. |
