Great news, but I wish a list of Walmart’s to carry these would drop.

Dolemite 10-02-2019 07:08 AM

Good news for NECA! Glad to see that they're continuing to set up retail options to make up for the loss of Toys R Us.

AlanThCollector 10-02-2019 07:17 AM

This is great for those who missed out, but this reveal seems rather anticlimactic for how cryptic and secretive Randy and the NECA team were being when they first revealed the boxes at SDCC19, especially when you consider that NECA at Walmart isn’t really a new thing.

The new fleshtone paint job on Ash looks nice. Chucky looks good too, but this version feels rather incomplete without Tiffany which I thought was the whole point of the 2-pack.

This would have been a great opportunity for NECA to release an updated Hero from the Sky Ash instead.

The price on these also kills any interest I may have had in picking them up. This doesn’t bode well for the price of future figures. 2020 is going to be like $35-$40 for an Ultimate figure and $60-$70 for dual-pack releases.

Wait, are you saying that this new Hero Ash is cast in flesh-colored plastic instead of painted like the 2-pack release? Is that confirmed? 'Cause if so, I'm going to be annoyed at the thought of having to upgrade.

The NECA team hasn’t directly confirmed it at this point, but judging by the product image, I’m almost certain NECA used the flesh-tone plastic.

It's hard to tell, but the way the light is hitting the cheekbones on the head sculpts, it looks like that could be the case. I'm actually going to NYCC tomorrow...I'll swing by the NECA booth and maybe I'll be able to see one up close. I shall report back!

Straker 10-02-2019 05:29 PM

Ahhh, I thought I spotted a white box front for Evil Dead 2 at SDCC. They kinda sneaked it in their display but I didn't see any info about it. I'm glad that new Ash is getting a single card release...odd that it's a Wal Mart release, lol. When was the last time Wal Mart carried anything like this? Not since the Spawn movie way back in the day and that was McFarlane. I can't ever recall seeing NECA Horror toys at Wal Mart though.

Walmart did carry McFarlane all the way through the company's dormancy in the late 00's but as for NECA they have very rarely carried some single releases such as the Robocop and T-800 Endoskeleton repacks.

My thoughts exactly.

Tim 10-02-2019 06:48 PM

That Ash shall be mine! With force Friday and this hitting I ain’t gonna have any money left haha

darthschroeder 10-03-2019 04:43 AM

This is great! I really wanted to get another Evil Dead 2/opening scenes of Army of Darkness version of Ash. If I can actually find one at WM I will surely pick it up.
Anyone know why there wasn't any Army of Darkness merch from NECA? It's certainly the most toyetic film in the Evil Dead franchise. Imagine a Delta '88 that can be converted into the Murder Machine Ash rides at the end of AOD!

Dolemite 10-29-2019 09:32 AM

Saw these in my local Walmart today. I can confirm that Ash is indeed cast in flesh-colored plastic this time around, but the effect is barely noticeable when compared to the 2-pack version, and the overall paintjob on the figure - at least on the ones I saw - was pretty bad. All of the eyes on every single head where severely derpy/crooked and the hairline blood effects were all placed way too low, leaving large gaps between the hair and where the blood begins. All the chainsaws were warped, also.

Bummer.

snake5289 10-29-2019 10:26 AM

Guess this is why I saw a random T2 T-800 at Wal-Mart a couple of weeks ago.

Tim 10-29-2019 10:33 AM

Yea I forgot to mention they hit Memphis as well. Last week I picked up Ash in Germantown

How did yours look? Curious if the paint issues are widespread or not.

I had two in hand. One was Meh the second was actually pretty good. The Blood paint isn’t the best especially on the forehead and what can be described as the (Stern) head has both eyes looking to the left on both figs. The other two heads eyes were painted perfectly thou and one was the best of the bunch. Especially Chainsaw wise it wasn’t warped or anything

Dolemite 10-30-2019 01:44 PM

Cool, so perhaps there's hope yet. Thanks.

Joe Moore 10-30-2019 06:55 PM

The only NECA I’ve seen at my local ones are a few Toony Terrors Pennywise, and some of the old packaging Godzilla figures. Still haven’t seen the Ash. Want to check it out in person to see if it’s worth a double dip.

snake5289 10-30-2019 08:02 PM

I was in the Wal-Mart here earlier today but didn't see anything. The was a lot of empty space though so maybe they have stuff coming in.

I'm not convinced that it is. Like I said above, it's cast in flesh-colored plastic this time around, but unlike other instances where NECA has done that for re-releases where it was a massive improvement (such as the Hudson/Hicks 2-pack), the "upgrade" isn't nearly as noticeable for Ash. Your mileage may vary if you see one in-person.

Vamp 11-03-2019 09:24 PM

ohh this is great news. neca making that $$$

urrutiap 11-03-2019 10:31 PM
