Joe, no idea if the plan to release Lockjaw as a standalone figure?

Probably not. Unless they have a special edition up their sleeve for him.

There's a good chance some people will split the set and sell Lockjaw by himself on eBay. That's about the next best solution I can think of if Mezco doesn't have any kind of solo release for him

I don't really know these characters, I assumed they went together. Why would people just want the dog?

Most likely it has something to do with the fact that Lockjaw has been demanded by fans more than any other character to be made by Hasbro for like 3 years running in polls, but since they have yet to get around to him this will fill that hole for many collectors.

As to specifically why he is so desired, he is a classic character but your guess is good as mine

While the figure pairing works because they are members of the Inhuman royal family, Black Bolt and Lockjaw aren't specifically partners. They're not a duo like Shaggy and Scooby Doo, Lockjaw could be paired with any main Inhuman or sold on his own and it'd still make sense.

Because the dog, Lockjaw, is a demanded character for collectors of Marvel Legends, and this release would go very well with other Marvel lines, particularly Marvel Legends. Meanwhile, this version of Black Bolt is very much a typical Mezco figure in terms of stylization and use of cloth costume, so it goes with other lines about as well as any other Mezco figure (which, of course, varies depending on each person's preferences, but regardless, is not as universally fitting/complimentary as this Lockjaw).

Oh ok, they all make sense. I really thought they were a duo since they've always been shown together.

Lockjaw's primary power is teleportation of himself and others, he also has some enhanced tracking abilities tied to the teleportation. He's also got high levels of strength and endurance due to his size.
While not a classic inseparable duo like Shaggy and Scooby (sorry for repeating the same example but they're iconic so it's easy) Black Bolt and Lockjaw are still close friends and Crystal is the only other Inhuman I can think of on the spot who is as close to the pooch.
