Need some help with identifying possible fake figures for NECA SDCC 2018 Turtles

Hey guys this has been a crazy ride to get the SDCC 2018 exclusive TMNT figures in the VHS style box. My first step someone on here found me and wanted to sell a bunch of collectible toys that they were selling before they had their first kid......turned out to be a scam and I had to jump through hoops to get my money back.

Second route was ebay....found a set that was priced what I thought was fair for it at about $175 with shipping.....turns out after seeing a youtube video that there are convincing fakes made of these including the boxes and everything. I returned it and the seller took it back right away when I complained about it not being genuine....he knew he was selling bogus stuff I'm thinking.

So many people are saying to just buy them from gamestop and be done with it but I am in love with the VHS style box and I want the extra accessories.

I am around on my third attempt a guy is looking to sell his set and a diorama on a group I'm a member of. He sent me pics and knows I've been scammed before so my guard is way up. I've looked at the pics and some things seem genuine while others are questionable. Figured I'd check here with the experts for some help. To me the wear marks on the side and front look pretty good.....its the nickelodeon signs that look too dark.....the genuine ones are supposed to be a light orange and the fake is darker. Can you guys weigh in so I don't get scammed again please! Thanks in advance.

The link doesn't seem to work.

Seen quite a few people on various sites looking for the VHS box. Starting to think I should fish it out of the basement and sell it. It's one of the few boxes I kept, coz I was going to work it into a display. I never got around to it.

1. The box has the wear marks, which is good.
2. The Nickelodeon logo looks to be towards the bottom of the orange rectangle, also good. Though, the orange does look a little dark, but that could just be the picture.
3. There are no seam lines on the arms, which is a big tell for a knockoff.
4. The spots on their skin don't seem to be too dark or too big and also have a "softer" appearance, meaning the edges of the spots are not too crisp. Very good.
5. The chest shell part has a duller almost tan paint with dark wash over it, especially towards the edges. The knockoffs I've seen are painted a brighter yellow with no shading.
6. On some knockoffs, the "nose" part of the turtles' heads are painted quite a bit lighter than the rest of their face, or have a thicker wash or dry brushing of a yellowish colour. These look like their paint is consistent and not too heavy-handed.
7. And, finally, the holes in the plastic tray where their arms go through are cut smoothly. The holes on knockoffs are rough and chewed up looking, sometimes with tears or rips.

Michaelangelo's eyes are a bit wonky, but I've seen legit Turtles from NECA with that problem. They are hand painted, so there is room for error there.

All in all, I would say that I, personally, would buy this set with about 95% confidence that it is authentic. Bootleggers are crafty scumbags, so there's always a slight chance they upped their game and fixed some of the "knockoff tells", but these really do look real.

Hope that helps.

Just looked at my convention set, and yeah, these look identical. I'd say 99% yeah, these are legit. I've seen some of the KOs in person. There are several different sets. One is completely off the mark with bright colors and cheap plastic. Another is almost a 1:1 copy, but the "pimples" are more crisp, and chest shells aren't quite as detailed. I'd say these are authentic, too.
