S.H. Figuarts TMNT pre-orders for the turtles popping up right now?

BigBadToyStore and Gamestop, maybe others, have pre-orders open for the SHF turtles. It's reproductions but maybe the demand is finally growing!

Gamestop is $40! Free shipping!

https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Searc...arts&Series=32

https://www.gamestop.com/toys-collec...inja%20turtles

I'm trying not to get too excited, but this seems like a good sign the SHF turtles might be reviving the line a little. A few more unique figures for the line soon?

Why else would there be more pre-orders? Maybe the love for those turtles has grown. It's an insanely solid figure.

I HOPE!!!

Shredder and a foot soldier. I won't even ask for B&R.....even tho...well just look at NECA sales for those guys right now. Huge. Kudos to them. NECA could be another big reason SHF is pushing hard to make things happen.

Personally the NECA turtle figs are like 4th on my list. But it doesn't maaaatter because it's all about the other amazing characters anyway and they are nailing them hard. Neca has me hooked and I will continue to collect the entire line till it's over, but, a sizable SHF line would be great! SO GREAT! Articulated goodness. My fav. droooool.

ALSO, is this in the right forum? Or would this be toy news, not general discussion?

Could be, or could be that Bandai had a few pallets of "found in the back of the warehouse" stock and wants to know who wants it … my local barnes & noble just had a few TMNT figures available, so who knows. These haven't been too hard to find lately. Not like when they initially released.

Doh! I was hoping that wouldn’t be the case. It’s weird that they’d be preorders and not just sold to sellers like restocking something from leftover pallets. . Aren't pre-orders a sign something is going to get manufactured?

Not always. Sometimes a maker finds a large amount of figures, or they are forced to buy back stock from a distributor or large retailer, and they need to resell it. Stores say, "I'll take some" and they get some of what's left. In these cases, the retailers often oversell stock, and whatever doesn't get fulfilled gets refunded or credited. They do preorders in this case to see what the demand is and to make sure the stock actually sells out, rather than risk getting it back again.

Other times vendors are just testing the waters, and cancel based on that demand. On very rare cases, it's just a store's wish for someone to make more, and they open preorders in an attempt to get a vendor to reissue stock.

In my many decades in and around the toy industry, I've seen all the three.

damn webz, that's good intel. Really interesting stuff. The buyback and resell scenario is sounding really likely. I reallllly like those turtles but manufacturing more with the current tmnt market could be a stretch.

Maybe if all the buyback stock gets sold, it's considered a success, and they make a few other figs. That might push the line forward just enough for one figure. If they at least do a shredder it will sell so well they couldn't deny making a few more unique characters. Come to think of it. Tmnt is kind of a pain in the ass that way. It's not all human forms. So many unique characteristics to create. Expensive.

This toy life is tough!

They toy industry is incredibly fickle, and then you factor in the even more insane collectibles segment - the "fanboys" and it's crazy to predict. Company X can make a great product that sells out instantly when released, but the 2nd release languishes on shelves for months/years, then the stock FINALLY sells out at extreme liquidation at or pennies above cost, and then after it disappears, suddenly there is an outcry for more figures by the very fanboys that ignored it when it was plentiful.

I'm not pointing out anyone or wagging a finger, I'm just stating what I've seen during the last 20 years which really have been a "golden age" of nostalgic collectibles. I got lambasted for buying First Gokin Krang a few years ago. "Why spend money on a fake when Classics will be releasing Krang". Now some of these same people have offered me $300+ if I'd sell mine. I've seen similar things happen with several other brands. It's the "Big Yellow Taxi" syndrome.

Great investment on that Krang, huge. I should have snapped that up. I was picky about the way it looked and the price and now it's like what the hell was I thinking!
I feel like it's going to be like that with the Super7 stuff. A lot of people seem uninterested but it could be a big one down the line.
