Marvel Contest of Champions - Venompool Statue by PCS Toys

Is Marvel pushing this Contest of Champions Venompool for some reason? First a $400 Hot Toys figure and now a $2500 statue.

Shouldn't they start with a Marvel Legends to see if there's any desire? This is like a totally different incarnation of Venompool for Contest of Champions. I just can't see a company deciding to invest so much time/money into this thinking it'll be a big seller.

I think it's more of a workaround for the companies producing them. Hot Toys and PCS likely don't have and cannot acquire the proper comic licenses. So they work around that and get the mobile game licenses and the PS4 Spidey game license, which gives them access to comic style characters.

Venom and Deadool are two very popular characters, and there's not much else out for "Venompool". So they test the waters with a character they seeing as having a strong appeal to fans, and go fro mthere. I think Hot Toys kicked their mobile game line off with Punisher War Machine from Future Fight.

Punisher at least made sense, since it's pretty similar to the comic design, they even included a unmasked head which from what I read, was not in the game. I'm pretty sure this design for Venompool is totally different than he ever appeared in the comics. I just can't see how out of ALL the characters available they could do in that game, Hot Toys chose to go with Venompool instead of classic X-Men, Fantastic Four, or any other litany of comic accurate characters that are in the game?

Just need to toss Wolverine in there somehow and you got the amalgamation of the most overused comicbook characters ever combined into one!
