MK11 Spawn Figure

Preview of the Mortal Kombat 11 - Spawn Figure by McFarlane Toys

Comedian 01-29-2020 09:37 AM

Its......beautiful.

Tony_Bacala 01-29-2020 09:41 AM

F*** YEAH. More articulation, but will prob have range issues due to molding like the other MK figs. BUT! Still better than the last color tops in that respect so I will take it!

snake5289 01-29-2020 09:50 AM

I will have this. Little surprised he has a sword instead of an axe though.

webz 01-29-2020 09:56 AM

Oh no! The Venom symbiote infected Dr. Strange! Where's Mr. Fantastic's sonic cannon?!

mort 01-29-2020 09:58 AM

This is cool. But where are the Invincible figures? Considering we almost got a Legendary Heroes 2-pack of Mark and Nolan in the ToyBiz days, we deserve better than the filth McFarlane has released so far.

Dolemite 01-29-2020 10:04 AM

Wow, I'm not a big Spawn or McFarlane fan or anything but that's a nice-looking figure.

ludovicotek 01-29-2020 10:07 AM

Damn. That's a great looking figure.

Just add Ghost Rider chains for the hat trick.

Exodus 01-29-2020 11:24 AM

Why is Spawn in the MK arcade, interesting.

jpizzow 01-29-2020 11:27 AM

Great looking figure, but I still want McFarlane to give us some staction figure options. Those things are pieces of art.

Lately, each MK has had "celebrity" hidden/pay characters... Alien, Predator, Leatherface, Freddy Krueger, Jason, etc. Terminator, Spawn and Joker are the "celebrities" for this season's game, I believe.

Black Arbor 01-29-2020 11:35 AM

Looks great, but I'm waiting for the dealbreaker.... Swivel shoulders? Peg hips? No neck joint? No knee joints?? So many ways for Todd to bone up this slam dunk!

Omega 01-29-2020 11:59 AM

Not a fan of the toes look though

En Sabah Nerd 01-29-2020 12:33 PM

I think what we're seeing here looks pretty good, it's based on his MK111 model but will still fill in nicely as a comic figure. I wonder if they could technically do Joker from MK11 too since they have the licenses for both franchises.

Trivial Psychic 01-29-2020 12:34 PM

That's actually a pretty decent looking figure. Despite the questionable design of the recent Batman #1000 figure, it sported some pretty good articulation that worked for the most part. If this figure articulates somewhat close to that, I'll be picking him up for sure.

The sword is an odd choice as someone mentioned. An axe would have been better suited, but I'm sure I have more than a few lying around from older Spawn toys that he could borrow.

Can mcfarlane do a Jason, Freddy, predator etc, since he has that mk license?

No. Those would require additional licenses. Freddy and Jason are off limits for everyone, and they aren't in MK11, just MKX.

Comedian 01-29-2020 01:28 PM

Has there been any movement on the Jason and Freddy stuff for anyone yet?or are they still stuck in limbo?

Might have been intentional to differentiate it from the Soulcalibur 2 Spawn and the one sword I recall being used was Angela's from when he killed Malebolgia, but that's a sticky situation since McFarlane no longer has the rights to use her character.

The Freddy rights situation was recently resolved in a rather messy sounding split settlement between Wes Craven's family and New Line, while the stuff going on with Jason (and the Friday the 13th series as a whole) is still in legal purgatory.

Not sure how this effects Freddy items going forward though due to the nature of the split settlement, as they transfer from one party to the other depending on what international borders the product is being sold on.

I don't even remember Spawn really using an axe in the comics and I read that series until issue 195 or so before I dropped out. I'm sure there were instances where he did use one but it was only improvisational. I know in different video games he had the axe that looked like his icon so I get that people could be attached to that idea. Also yes Spawn did use Angela's sword to kill Malebolgia but at that point all of Heaven's weaponry had a uniform appearance so her character rights wouldn't really factor.

That actually is why I initially got the Legends Angela, I still have her displayed standing next to the very Spawn figure Freakazoo pictured.

This shit is always fascinating to me, do you have a place you hear this news from or is it multiple sources?
