Why would they reveal those two days ahead of Toy Fair?

jestermon 02-20-2020 10:56 AM

That Ahsoka better have ball hinge knees and hips and a waist swivel.

Black Arbor 02-20-2020 11:00 AM

Why do I get the feeling Baby Yoda is gonna be the Furby or Cabbage Patch Kids of the 2020's haha

What an odd statement?

Why did they show off the other stuff? Why are other companies showing things off now?

Hasbro just showed off every other scale of Star Wars. Why would they not show a bit from vintage and black series?

It's definitely on that level but not only for kids, so many adults are all over the baby, so it may be one of the biggest fads ever.

I have a feeling things won't be that hard to find though since there's so much merch, but who knows. Production delays in China may create low supply.

Yeah and frankly everything baby Yoda they just showed is pretty much all that retailers actually care about, not a 6" scale Snowspeeder that will shelfwarm and go clearance.

Not at all.

Are board games and basic figures something that people go crazy over or are they ignored if revealed alongside the big guns? There's your answer.

Appetizers.

Because then they have nothing left to reveal at Toy Fair to make an impact among all the other companies bringing their A-game?

Comedian 02-20-2020 11:26 AM

I’m assuming there is not much to show for vintage or black series. The rumored 6 vintage figures which most are repacks and the black series figures have been shown through leaks on the empire cards....again mostly repacks. So maybe the rumored black series snow speeder could steel the show?

I think building hype for all their lines would have been better. Hope I’m wrong, but expect very little for the 3.75 scale Star Wars world. And hasbro at this point has still not renewed with Disney for marvel or Star Wars beyond this year.

I looked the other week to see when Hasbro and Disney last renewed their licenses and it was April 2018. While it's understandable that everyone is anxious about the renewal, no news isn't necessarily bad news just yet.

Black Series and TVC reveals have always been heavier during non-movie years. Since there is nothing on the horizon for the next couple of years, Hasbro should be able to reveal figures more figures.

Joe Moore 02-20-2020 12:14 PM

At this point, we should all be familiar with Hasbro's Toy Fair and Comic-Con approaches. Show a little from every license before hand to get people interested, then comes the press event where everything else is shown.

Sideswipefriend 02-20-2020 12:42 PM

That animatronic baby yoda looks nothing like him. gonna pull a scout trooper on that ugly looking thing.

At this point, all I want is for the license to be opened up more so other companies, like Japanese companies or Mezco, can release figures in the US. And not forced to have accessories like the SHF Marvel figures.

I’m just a bit shocked they didn’t show any black series figures. And maybe the troop transport was our vintage preview? I don’t know , 2 more days and we’ll know.

Is there any other companies showing on Saturday?

They may still show off Black Series via another outlet. they try to spread their pre-show reveals to as many major general news outlets as possible. Toy Fair itself starts Saturday, so there's going to be a ton of news incoming.

Black Arbor 02-20-2020 02:01 PM

That top image of Baby Yoda looks like one of those creepy Reborn Dolls (if you don't know what that is, exercise caution when googling it haha)

Comedian 02-20-2020 02:27 PM

Thanks. I thought toy fair started Sunday. Good to know, I need to rearrange some things this weekend. Lol.

It'll be crazy starting Saturday morning, then runs through Sunday, with Mattel hosting press on Monday.

Preview night is tomorrow night as well, right?

That's usually Comic-Con. No "official" preview night for Toy Fair. some people will sneak around and take stealth shots, but we try not to do that. We may get an early invite to a booth or two on Friday, depending on how far set up is along.

That Mandalorian skull necklace proves that HasBLO does indeed still know how to vac-metalize. Too bad they won't use it on the many figures that need it.

It is hilarious that they are actually still trying to push that 5" crap.

Really? I find it ugly: a hairless, smooth-skinned gremlin. It sure got hyped over the Christmas holidays, but most of the product won't hit store shelves for another few months, by design:

You'll Have to Wait for your Baby Yoda Toys (CNN, 12-Feb)

Online listings for "child" toys predict arrival in April or May, but it might take longer, given disruption tied to Corona virus and other things.

redfox 02-21-2020 10:32 PM

Nice to see Season 7 of Clone Wars get some representation from Hasbro. Hopefully this'll translate to the Black Series too, especially a new Ahsoka!
