2010 TIE Bomber And Freeco Speeder
|
I find it hilarious that there is an ejection seat.......on a space craft!

I like the Bomber. Don't care for the speeder. The stuff based on Clone Wars just looks a little too cartoonish. I know that's the point, but I just think that the stuff released as Legacy Collection looks better. The TIE Bomber has better paint apps where the Speeder has a more uniform, solid paint job. It makes the toy look a little too "toyish". That sounds weird, but I hope some of you get what I mean.

I know what you mean, Ludo. Some aesthetics just don't appeal to some people. It doesn't make the design bad, nor does it mean that the one who don't like it are wrong. The same thing happened with Transformers Animated.
There are a ton of things that I don't care for, but I can see the appeal it has for others. As for these, I'm with you. I'll always go for the Legacy stuff because that it what appeals to me. The Clone Wars I follow for the storyline mostly, but I also like certain vehicles - especially if they have a link to "future" Legacy versions (AT-TE --> AT-AT/AT-ST). |
I'm the opposite. I have tons of CW figures and few "realistic" ones. These stylistic designs are great, they look like those marquette statues. Then again I grew up watching Batman: TAS, which had an awesome art style.
I'll be picking up the Freeco bike for the clone alone. I already have one bike already, I guess I could use a spare. |
See, I loved Batman:TAS and, of course, TFA. But for some reason, the Clone Wars style just hasn't clicked with me.

I think it's because it's 3D. They all looks like painted marquettes of 2D stylised characters, which I know is an aquired taste.

@ SPLIT LIP - I loved Batman TAS. Those figures were great! Perfectly captured the look of the cartoon.
@ trebleshot - The AT-TE is great. I bought one and love it. I definitely agree with you about the aesthetics of the different lines. And by no means do I think that the animated stuff sucks, I just don't like it as much. But it does look appropriate for what it's based on. If I were a kid today I would probably be more into that stuff. And since you mentioned the AT-TE, I actually think that they handled the paint applications almost as if it were a Legacy Collection vehicle. It has different shades of Grey, instead of all the same solid shade, and along with the reds and the stickers has a more realistic look to me. |
