So buying that scorpion.

TheLoudMaster 07-15-2020 10:58 AM

Yet another Scorpion. *pulls out wallet*

webz 07-15-2020 11:12 AM

Might have to replace my first release Scorpion. Damn thing fell apart months after release. He and SubZero are super glued together.

VashTS 07-15-2020 12:20 PM

Again? What is with Storm. I am very down on their line. Just so much scale changes. Everything is out of scale and now must re-buy? The price simply is NOT worth it with the many issues I am encountering or reading about.

dukefett 07-15-2020 12:23 PM

Definitely buying Scorpion, love the line. I already have the first one, but like the upgrades here. Prices are going to sink tremendously on the first pair lol. People paying $250+ for Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and Reptile. At least these are still a bit different. No molded chain or fire breath fatality piece.

I kind of want Raiden too, but will probably pass for now. Maybe if they give a discount in the future. I'd like another to try to do an MK1 version of, just all white.

They've come a LONG way if you compare Sagat or Guile with the first Scorpion or Sub-Zero. I would have totally quit on the brand had my wife not surprised me with Goro x-mas 2018. Got a bunch of the classic Street Fighter figures and they are great. Stopped on MK since they took too long to release any MK1 figures. If this is as good as the Street Fighters, I'll swap out my Scorpion, and SubZero if they do this style as well. I'll feel bad throwing away my old ones, but superglued figures aren't worth much. lol

Zorn88 07-15-2020 12:59 PM

If that Scorpion pricing is not triple digit, I will buy.

I absolutely bet someone would take your figures, at least the accessories, since this Scorpion has all different ones.

ludovicotek 07-15-2020 02:48 PM

That Scorpion looks great! Good that people who missed out on the original release now have a great option for the classic look. Not quite exactly the part 2 look, but close enough. I'm sure he'll definitely scale better, too, since the the first ones are now undersized compared to the rest of the line. Sub-Zero can't be far behind.

Bo Ttef 07-15-2020 03:15 PM

Mine's got a bum shoulder that can pop out easily. I glued the piece that broke together- he can still move but it probably wouldn't take much effort to break that pop socket again... this will be a nice replacement- but i wish they did a Scorpion SubZero 2pk so I wouldn't have to wait so-long for the inevitable SubZero version (and Reptile...)

Trivial Psychic 07-15-2020 03:34 PM

I have all of the MK Ninjas up to this point, and this Scorpion will be the first that I pass on. Something feels off about it sculpt...the head looks way too small while the hands and shoulders look gigantic. It's like Luthor from Umbrella Academy decided to cosplay as his favorite MK ninja this Halloween.

I'm glad that this is coming out though for those who missed out on the first Klassic Scorpion...It fills a much needed want for those who missed out on the original release, and it's also something that can be passed on without feeling guilt about a hole in the collection if you've been all in from the beginning. I still think the recent UMK3 Scorpion is still far superior looking to that one, as well as this one though.

Finally, as someone else said..I really wish Storm would figure out their scaling issues, because they are ALL over the place with these lines. I really wish they could be a bit more interchangeable, but it's like Storm purposely does not want that to happen.

Especially with the female figs. Theyre smaller than marvel legends. Wtmf?!

Bo Ttef 07-15-2020 04:36 PM

Baraka could stand to be a little bigger, but other than all the original ninja characters being a bit small im perfectly fine with the MK scale that they've moved to.

HunterKnight 07-15-2020 05:39 PM

YAWN. Next please.

OriginalFire 07-15-2020 06:51 PM

How is this Scorpion different?

Krunomo 07-15-2020 08:02 PM

This Scorpion is nice. Better than the first and i'm going to say better than the UMK3 version. The only problem i have is that we have five remaining UMK3 ninjas (Reptile, Ermac, Smoke, Rain and Noob) which could be extended to seven if you include Chameleon and Tremor. Assuming they do all seven (or nine) in this MK2 style we then have between 11 and 15 more ninja drops on the cards. That's at least three years worth of ninjas ... i will buy every damm one of them but would like to see Storm give us at least two or three non ninjas a year. Also, wonder what happened to the Frozen armed sub-zero??? Perhaps that's a BBTS exclusive.

This Scorpion is based on the skin for Klassic Arcade Scorpion on MK11...which in game was a modern take on his outfit from MK2. The balaclava is a dead give away...

Supposedly this version has some improvements to the figure design articulation wise. It also has some new fire effects, a flaming skull and a chain spear...which outside the flame stream, the original Scorpion figure did not.

Bo Ttef 07-15-2020 08:37 PM

I'll grab this one to update the MK shelf. Was going to just swap the old guys out as the UMK guys dropped but the size between them is pretty jarring when the whole rainbow is together. with this still having more of a classic look i think it might blend in better for a swap

I have this problem with the original release Sub-Zero.

Yeah.. wish they would have used the MK1 mask... or included both MK1 and MK2 like they did in the original release.

I think they were trying to mean between Storm's lines. They're all supposed to be 1/12, but stand them next to eachother and they're all over the place. The new Ax Battler from Golden Axe is a huge figure for instance. Even between their own lines, they're not consistent.

I just started taking pics of Ax Battler, and yeah, that figure is huge.

Raiden, Baraka, UMK3 Scorpion and UMK3 Sub-Zero are basically 1:10 scale. They fit near perfectly with NECA and McFarlane figures. The MK2 ninjas are in my opinion 1:11 scale. They're too big for 1:12 but too small for 1:10. The Golden Axe Skeletons are also 1:10 scale.
