Star Wars 7/21/20 Target Pre-Orders

Star Wars Galaxy Edge Target Releases – Official Pics and Details

Comedian 07-21-2020 01:41 PM

Target truly sucks on the preorder front.

The falcon is cool, but I have the 2008 release. This would be cool, but $400 cool? And man the space, I don’t think I can fit a second behemoth in my collection.

FigCollector785 07-21-2020 01:53 PM

Not even a chance for pre-order. I went to target as soon as I found out about them and "pre-order sold out" is all I found.

Cobra1 07-21-2020 02:08 PM

The Falcon has 2 radar dishes?!? They really want to sell people on that $400

And no OT sounds and voices. But cool none the less.

IceKill17 07-21-2020 02:18 PM

Any love for Canada?

ludovicotek 07-21-2020 02:38 PM

Really want that Falcon. Shit.

hotheads 07-21-2020 04:31 PM

Is that falcon the same one from the legacy collection? I've been waiting for them to re-release it for years. Since they are labeling it as a Smuggler's run falcon, I would expect they will release a non-exclusive version with different branding in the future. Target exclusivity is just too narrow for distribution of the flagship star wars vehicle.

deecee4 07-21-2020 05:59 PM

"The STAR WARS: THE BLACK SERIES 6-INCH CAPTAIN CARDINAL Figure is detailed to look like the CAPTAIN CARDINAL character inspired by the STAR WARS GALAXY’S EDGE theme park, featuring premium detail and multiple points of articulation. "

What's that even mean? Cardinal is a character from the Phasma novel that came out a few years back.

Yup. Legacy. Just new paint apps, a second dish and different voice effects. Sound assume no OT sounds or voices. I have yet to here if this will get a wide release or if a OT version will happen. Hasbro kind of threw a canteen with whisky at us while we were dying of thirst and so needed that good old water.

AceHazard 07-21-2020 07:31 PM

I was hoping this was going to be actual items from Galaxy’s Edge and not items inspired by it. There are a few of the legacy lightsabers that I really want.

My thoughts exactly. Doesn't make sense that he is something "inspired by Galaxy's edge" In fact I think he might be dead by the time Galaxy's Edge takes place (I never read the novel). Still want the figure though... Damn my toy addiction...

Shin-Gouki 07-21-2020 11:50 PM

I want that Falcon and if it was $150 like the original I'd jump on it. At $400 they can keep it

MeLikeJinx 07-22-2020 01:57 AM

^ Maybe it will make it to clearance. I bought the BB8 playset for 30 dollars... not sure how much the original cost was. I honestly can't imagine too many people rushing out to buy it nowadays at that pricepoint. I also kinda want one too though. I remember passing on the OG one at TRU on sale for $80... I had way less money to play around with at the time though.

Hard to say. Depends how many they ordered. There are just under 2,000 Target stores in the United States. Now, will each store get these? Or only the Disney store Targets? I don’t know. Usually, from my understanding, toy companies don’t turn on the machines for less than 5,000 units and sometimes 10,000. Being this mold already existed, perhaps the numbers are smaller. I just dont have the knowledge on this.

I’m kind of shocked no OT was offered. If I had the space, I’d get this but I really don’t have room for a second one. Now a solo version, I’d find space. Plus the haslab Star Wars item is due in August.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Fingers Crossed

This right here is what makes the $400 Price Tag asinine. Aside from a new radar dish all the R&D and Tooling is paid for.

Phantomcrow 07-23-2020 10:28 AM

dont care about the Falcon, are the adding pre orders for the Cardinal and RX figures???

Totally. With the original, they were obviously intending for it to be bought by parents for their kids as well as adult collectors. Now they know they are selling 100% to collectors so they jack the price up to ridiculous levels. Timing isn't great either since SWVC has a haslab coming out in august (I think?) and I'm already in on the ML sentinel.

Thor Laserpunch 07-23-2020 12:36 PM

This Falcon also has the removable escape pod.

This is just like all the stuff in Galaxy’s Edge where you’re locked in and have to buy your $400 BMF to feel like you bought something on vacation. Then you have to walk around the airport with it.

Tokyomeltdown 07-23-2020 07:17 PM

$400 for a glorified kids toy? from 12yrs ago? Happy to let the suckers have this one.

Cardinal and Vi Moradi 's stories continue in novel <Galaxy's Edge: Black Spire >

From wookiepedia:

Galaxy's Edge: Black Spire is a canon novel written by Delilah S. Dawson. It is part of the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge media project, and it was first published on August 27, 2019 by Del Rey. An audiobook version was also released.
Set after Dawson's previous Star Wars novel, Phasma, Galaxy's Edge: Black Spire begins during the events of the film Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens. The rest of the story is set four months later, between Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi and Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker, and prior to the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge theme park experience

deecee4 07-24-2020 04:37 AM

Mystery solved! Thanks for that
