Great for those that missed out on the one released at the beginning of the year.

Comedian 08-31-2020 09:48 AM

I’m a sucker for all this retro packaging. I hope the team is coming as well.

Black Arbor 08-31-2020 10:03 AM

Wait, so he has his first appearance neck shawl in addition to his cape? Was that a feature of some Toybiz Doom that I'm blanking on?

Dr Kain 08-31-2020 10:32 AM

Apparently one of those books is the Darkhold.

omega145 08-31-2020 10:39 AM

That card design is fantastic.

RamenRider 08-31-2020 11:19 AM

An interesting thing people noted on Twitter - Doom has some kind of digital morse code added on his chest in post, each different depending on which retailer got the stock images. They're starting to crack down on leakers.

...

Which in the grand scheme of things won’t help much as most leaks happen because factory workers get their hands on the figures and then post pictures.

Seems like that happens way less with Legends, only toys I know of that get regularly leaked are Transformers haha

Legends official pics definitely get leaked early. Sometimes weeks ahead of time. I just don't report on those leaks as Hasbro has sent us take down notices almost any time we did share them.

I'm talking about factory leakers though, usually the only leaks from Legends I see are stuff like when a SDCC set gets into someone's hands early or a retailer jumps the gun on listing preorders

I see those on occasion. Nowhere near as often as the Transformers leaks though. Those are Titanic level leaks.

Or a 12 pack drank alone level.

Seriously hahahaha. They need better security!

Or for people like me who didn't think the classic head looked as good on the modern body. Now we can have twice the Doom.

Not sure, but at least if people don't like the shawl look, it looks like it can be removed easily enough.

Fantastic Four

All these retro packaging Marvel Legends are bringing back so many memories. I had The Thing in trenchcoat and shades. Also had Johnny Storm, Wizard in this same packagin.

En Sabah Nerd 08-31-2020 02:27 PM

So I'm feeling like this is also a tease that we're getting a retro carded F4 wave.

EvilMonkeyPope 08-31-2020 02:49 PM

Now I'm mad I got the previous version with I leg I don't want instead of these accessories. I haven't opened him yet, but he's probably past his target return window.

hasbroherofan 08-31-2020 03:03 PM

Hopefully this is a sign the other half of the Marvel Action Hour will be getting some love.

MeLikeJinx 08-31-2020 03:38 PM

Doom was double packed too and the F4 wave was plentiful, so there were a lot of Dooms to go around. I think for all the high in demand double packed figs like him and Gambit and Nightcrawler, etc... Doom still goes for the most on the secondary market.

I like this packaging though... it makes it harder for repackers to steal stuff and then return the figure.

On Amazon Doom is cheaper than Nightcrawler and Gambit.

MeLikeJinx 08-31-2020 04:22 PM

^ Ah, for real? I was mostly going buy local scalper prices... like I can get Gambit and Nightcrawler for $15 locally at toy shows, but Doom is more expensive here.

In my local experience the Caliban and Wendigo waves just saw typical distribution while the Super Skrull wave was a bit overstocked, perhaps online stores wound up with a similar experience hence Doom is currently the cheapest of the three figures in question.

redfox 08-31-2020 06:46 PM

Looks like Doom is the figure teased last week as being released with soft goods.

Hoping to see a fully transparent Sue Storm released on similar packaging.

Isn't that the book that had the spell to destroy all vampires in the Dracula comics? Or am I thinking of some other forbidden book?

Yeah, but it's the same exact modern body, but with a different-colored tunic. Or is that your point?

I'm curious what the figure looks like with just the shawl, but he'd still be missing the cute capris he rocked in his first appearance.

I like this retro version, but the first release pisses all over this one. More paint, more realistic eyes, better color scheme, the modern-style head is awesome...it's just a better overall figure.

That said, I'll pick this one up too, especially for the accessories. I can never have too much Doom on my shelf.
