Hollywood is devoid of actors and actresses who aren’t vocal liberals. Gina was one of the few who wasn’t afraid to speak her mind, and ultimately paid a price for that. Would she have been smart to just shut her mouth, and collect her paycheck like other right-leaning figures in Hollywood...perhaps.

Public figures working in private industry must be careful of the language they employ. For that matter, private citizens that work for any company must also be cautious when making public comments, especially when those comments revolve around culture or ethnicity. Gina was able to espouse her beliefs about politics without fear of being fired to the chagrin of some on the left calling for her ouster. The thing people need to understand about Disney is that they're both a corporation subject to the demands of their major shareholders (the uber-rich who actually own and run the nation/world) and the messed up business world we've created where shareholder value is everything, and a socially responsible entity with a real desire to effect positive change through inclusion and accurate representation OF ALL PEOPLE. If you work for them, saying stupid shit on social media that includes ridiculous lies and boilerplate white-privilege whining runs counter to both of those realities.

What they didn't bother to find out is that he was hired back after taking responsibility for the horrible things he said years ago, apologizing sincerely AND an investigation was conducted to ascertain whether or not Gunn was ever actually a pedophile. Let's face it, if there's one sort of person Disney never wants to work with, it's a pedophile. I think we can all agree that's a "no shit!" sentiment. So, in other words, Disney and Marvel did their due diligence before working with Gunn again, and Gunn acted like a grown-ass adult who took responsibility for himself and his actions.
